I'm not very good at arguing verbally. I like having my thoughts organized on paper or the computer monitor before posting or sending them. I'm slow to speak as a result, and don't often get into verbal arguments.

But he kept going off about how we should ship all the illegal aliens back to Latin America, eliminate the income tax, and stop giving handouts to people. Then, when he said he was worried that someone was going to try to make companies pay illegal immigrants a living wage, I said that I thought the government should make these companies pay a decent salary to their employees, and put an end to slavery. Shit, meet fan.

"You want to send ALL the businesses away from the US?! The government shouldn't dictate companies' wages! Minimum wage was designed for 17 year olds to earn money to save for college, not for families to live on! Yadda, yadda, and more yadda!"

When I mentioned that there were college grads and outsourced-out-of-work professionals working in newly-built Home Depots across the country and that this was Dumbyass' way of solving the unemployment problem; he replied that "That's been debunked so many times it's not funny." I said it wasn't funny to my friends who have been in that position. And he said, "Oh sure there are instances." :eyes:

Sigh. I wish I knew how to effectively argue my points aloud. :(
