Anyone here ever have a crush on Hawkeye Pierce?

/Sigh.../ I just saw the "sneezing" episode again last night and he just broke my heart when he started crying after remembering how his cousin had pushed him into the pond when he was a kid.

Post your favorite Alan Alda pics here!

1. Only his sense of humor ...
Besides I'm a dude ... that doesn't like other dudes.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ok, I'll shut up.

Cheers
Drifter

2. Hawkeye is not really my idea of a strong man
I guess I've never been attracted to men who have the time to write poetry or think up glib things to say. I've always preferred men who don't talk much; just get the job done. He just doesn't strike me as a strong man. When the house is on fire or bills need paid, I don't want a man who's somewhere ruminating about the meaning of life.

3. Who's Stronger?
A guy that manages to crack jokes in coping with a difficult situation while getting the job done or delaying/avoiding problems like many do with Credit Cards?

If you'll notice, he's not above taking action on his own initiave and sucessfully explaining it later in a Courts-Martial populated by Frank Burns' Clones.

4. Well, when people needed help --
Hawkeye was there to help them. Anyone who can live in the nightmare of war, day after day, saving the lives of wounded men, and not go nuts is surely a strong man and one who "gets the job done".

No hurt feelings, but your type of man sounds really boring to me. Maybe I'm just too strong of a woman, but I like a guy who is sensitive to all the pain and joy in life. Laughing and crying -- the two most humanizing acts of emotion. Hawkeye seems to be a master of both ends of the spectrum of feeling.

Welcome to DU, BTW. How you can not madly love the same fictional characters as I, I don't know. ;-) Stick around, I'll set you straight. :-)

7. I dunno
He just seemed kind of wimpy to me. But I have always been a pretty strong woman.

5. Huge Hawkeye fan!
:D

I loved that guy! AA was so good in that role, as a pre- and early teen I was almost convinced there really was a Hawkeye Pierce who, quite deservedly, was aging gracefully in his beloved Crab Apple Cove, ME.
