DirectTV or Time Warner Cable?
The trees are too low for me to receive DISH, as I tried to do that before.

I own my own dish, but would be required to sign up for a year of svc to get DirectTV's version of On Demand, which I guess is a DVR.

Time Warner Cable is rather expensive, but I would not have a contract and could get on demand.
Since my work hours vary, I would love to be able to record shows I miss when I am working.

Advice?

Kicks the everloving shit out of cable, and is more bang for the buck.

4. Depends what your internet connection is like.
I would go for cable just to get their highspeed internet service. Cable isn't available where I'm at & I would kill for cable internet!

DirecTV and Verizon are under the same umbrellla and will give you a price break to bundle telephone and sat TV service together.

I love my DirecTV and Tivo service. Is'wonderful! B-) I don't have problems at all.

edit: I would check though, if your building is too low for Dish, you might get the same response from DirecTV.

than Comcast.

It really irritates me that our cable service can be changed in the blink of an eye without we, the customers, ever having a say about the matter.

on edit: Rupert Murdoch owns Direct TV. Check out Dish Network instead.

10. do yourself a big favor and get direct t.v.
we have not had a moment's regret since we switched from comcast to direct t.v. Before we had comcast, we had Time Warner, in a different part of town. Time Warner was much better than Comcast, but direct t.v. tops both.

11. If you like watching tv when it's raining
You might want to avoid DirectTV. My parents have had it for about 10 years and it screws up every time it rains (no signal, they've replaced the dish several times, most recently to upgrade to HD). My comcast, on the other hand, has not had an outage in 3 years. On demand ROCKS, I love it and, when at the parents house, I get very irritated not having that function available to me. I pay $160/month for phone, internet, 2 cable boxes (one regular, one with DVR) and HBO, Showtime, and Starz.
