What is it about parking lots that transform presumably
bright enough people into champion idiots?

So I'm at Target Wednesday.

There was ONE empty parking space to the right of my car, and TWO empty/free spaces to the left of my car -- obviously my, the driver side.

As I opened my door and started to get out, some ridiculous nitwit decided to pull into the empty space...you guessed it...CLOSEST TO MY CAR!!

I was forced to close my door as I looked on in fricken disbelief.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!

Couldn't pull into the empty space to the right of my car.

Couldn't pull into the one of two empty spaces furthest to the left of my car.

Had to pick the space closest to my 2007 Porsche turbo! (Okay, whatever. So, I don't drive a Porsche, but you get the idea).

I am completely convinced that these parking lot a-holes are the same people who waltz up and start pissing in the urinal RIGHT NEXT TO ME, when there are plenty of empty ones well outside of the standard buffer zone.

Nope, gotta park and pee as close to cboy as you can get. Ha? :wtf:

2. Lots of things about cars cause bright people to behave like idiots
Just in case I resolve to stop trashing cars I thought I'd get that out of the way before 2008

8. Tell me about it, I almost got hit by a car in the
mall parking lot yesterday. I had just finished running my car through the car wash at the mall. When I parked at the mall the row was empty and I park at the very first spot. On the left side of my car there is a curved yellow line extending about six feet out and the space is marked no parking. Anyway I get out of my car and walk around it to see how the wash came out, when I step out from the left rear of the car this car speeds past diagonally across the lot. The mirror on the car actually brushed my left sleeve on my coat. The nitwit was on a f---ing cell phone and I don't think he even had a clue he almost hit me.

9. Ain't it amazing....
Edited on Thu Dec-27-07 09:43 AM by SacredCow
I got blocked by someone waiting for a parking space a few days ago... I was trying to back out (reverse lights on and everything) while this guy was loading up his car (He had 2 carts full, mind you, and trying to fit it all into a little Aveo so it wasn't going to be a quick thing). Cue clueless soccer mom in a gigantic SUV to pull up behind me and begin waiting for his spot (which was 2 spaces closer than mine, and I was obviously ready to leave). What's worse, is that maybe 2 or 3 spaces back from me it was WIDE F***ING OPEN- not a single occupied space!!!! How stupid and/or lazy can a person possibly be?

I think the guy loading his groceries was kind of steamed about it, too, because she kept inching up on him and flailing her hands obviously wanting him to hurry up. So, he left his carts in such a way where she HAD to get out of her car to move them if she was going to park that behemoth, which amazingly she did. That cost me a couple more minutes, but it was worth it to see her face.

As for the urinal thing.... It's closeted freepers trying to get a look at your unit. Bear mace.

I'm not so much worried that the freepers are trying to check out my "unit" as much as I am their flow ricocheting onto my expensive jeans!!

26. That's a concern, too.....
Of course, as a gay man, I take any looky-loo's as a compliment. Unless they're wearing Thompson, Huckabee, Romney, etc. t-shirts. Then I'd pee on 'em before getting the mace!

10. Tell me about it...
Two weeks ago some jerk rammed my car broadside in the parking lot at work. I'm still trying to get his insurance company to admit fault in spite of the security camera video that clearly shows him driving like an idiot.

Last week on the same day while shopping I had two different assholes park so close to my car that I could barely get in the door.

Tis the season to drive (and park) like an ass.

11. Ah, Mall Shopping At Christmastime.
One of the very few times when I feel oh-so-superior for using public transportation.

(But most of the time I just feel like I'm too broke to support an automobile.)

12. I hate people who pull into a parking lot while in front of me
and then to just about a complete stop, as if they're completely overwhelmed by all the options. Just pick a row and go looking ya lazy bastard. And when you see someone getting in their car, it's okay to pull over and indicate just so long as you do pull over and not park in the middle and block everyone else trying to get through.

Yes, parking lots make me hate people.

24. Yes. For anybody baffled why people have such a
difficult time operating their motor vehicles...just watch how folks (aka assholes) struggle with shopping carts.

It always makes me say to myself, "NO WONDER!!"

15. It's easier just to park in the Fire Lane with your hazard blinkers on.
That's what I see most often. Who cares if it's illegal, a safety concern and inconvenient for everyone else.

25. Some of us do need to park closer.
Before I got my handicapped placard, I did this because MS zaps my strength.

Please don't judge everyone quite so harshly, because sometimes it is a necessity.

16. Talking on the cellphone while pulling out of a parking space, one hand on the wheel, one
hand holding the phone: The parking lot is full of moving vehicles; people are walking to and from stores; people are pushing carts. Do ya s'pose ya could watch what you're doing at the moment, and wait a couple minutes before chatting on the phone with such blather as "you'll never guess who I just saw at the Mall, like o-mi-God, like she's gained soooo much weight.. like.." etc. & et al.

Every damn time I'm in any parking lot, some ass is blithely talking on the cell while negotiating into (or out of) a parking spot.

18. I went to Target on Christmas Eve to pick up a few little things.
When I came out, a monster Excursion SUV was parked next to me. Mind you, I drive a minivan, so it wasn't like I was in a small car trying to back out.

I couldn't see a blessed thing, so I started inching out only to have some raging monolithic asshat flip me off.

Merry Christmas, dude.

19. Parking lots are the only place where i seem to get downright irate...
Especially on the rare occasions when i try to drive downtown to campus and find somewhere, ANYWHERE to park.

The only "open to the public without a parking permit" place on campus is the so-called 'parking deck' behind the student union. I say "so-called deck" because it's only a single level for the public; the other level (underground) is 'permit only', and i HATE going there. It's like a teeming pool of hungry sharks, all circling endlessly around the 500-ish spaces, looking desperately for the tell-tale 'blood in the water' of brake lights, and the reverse lights of a soon-to-be-leaving car, or drivers craning their necks to see if the people coming out of the building are heading to their vehicles, or just heading to the buildings beyond the deck.

I usually give that place a cursory once-around (because i have occasionally found a space there), then head out the other side, and find a metered spot downtown. It involves having to walk about 3/4 of a mile back to campus, but at least there's no circling and horn-honking and madness.

More frequently, i just take the bus to campus, and it drops me off within 100 yards of wherever it is i'm going.
