I don't know why I am running around the house trying to make it appear clean. They raised me, they have visited before, they know. I love them to death but I always get anxious when they tell me they are going to visit. I tell you, it is hard to keep a clean house with eight animals running around & my relaxed attitude about cleanliness. My parents keep an immaculate house & this apple fell FAR from the tree in that regard.

Oh well, now I have to figure out how to get done cleaning before tomorrow morning!

1. LOL!
My dad is a clean NAZI--If you don't have your place spotless when he arrives...Non-stop snarky comments...Which is really annoying considering that my Stepmother and the maid he has come in once a week does the actual cleaning...

2. I used to freak out when my in-laws came over
My mother-in-law was one of those women who would grab a chair, climb up on it and start cleaning the globes on the living room light fixture (yes, she actually did that once).

I, like you, was rather casual in my housekeeping endeavors and took it as a direct comment on my ability to take care of my home.

But eventually, I got used to it and got to the point where I'd greet her with, "Hi, I saved the dirty toaster for you!"

3. I'm telling you, Cleaning party!
Call your friends. Buy a lot of pizza and beer. Tell them that in exchange for half an hour of help they'll get that pizza and beer.

Three guys in the bathroom trying to figure out how to clean the shower can be the most hillarious thing you've ever seen. :P
