1. Does he have a favorite blanky?
Your vet might let him use it overnight...my vet always keeps them overnight just to be sure they come out of the anaesthesia OK.

Your vet will tell you this anyway, but he'll be "no food or water" after midnight on the day before...so make sure he gets a good supper!

2. I just had my little boy done last week
Don't feed him any food after 10:00 pm, water is ok.

When you get him back keep him in his carrier until he is ready.

Unfortunately, we let our boy out and he scrambled to find a place to hide. We eventually got him to get back inside his carrier. Also keep him in a warm place, their body temperatures tend to drop because of the anesthesia.
My boy ended up in the bathroom where we have a wall heater. We left him in the dark while he recouperated. I would check in on him, the last time I looked in he had thrown up a lot of clear liquid. I let him out of his carrier, put him on a beach towel while I cleaned up. I left him in the bathroom until the next day. I let him go back to the studio/laundry room to be with his sisters.

Since you seem to have a wild child I would also suggest you not try to pet him until the anesthesia wears off completely. He'll be fine in a day or two. Mine seemed alright the very next day.

My kitties are feral, I was able to take over as their CosmicCatMama. They are the most tamest kitties. I sit down with them whenever I feed them, they love to rub their heads on my nose.

The boy

The girls

Hope this helps, Good Luck!

3. My kitten finally stopped being a full time attack cat
about the time she turned 3 years old. Her yahoo-ectomy at 5 months slowed her down, for a day and a half.

4. He'll be fine.
Boys generally act like nothing happened as soon as the anesthesia wears off. Girls sometimes need to rest a couple days, though the one I just had fixed last week was a terror the very next day!

If he is groggy or high when you get him home, it may be a good idea to keep him in a cage or in a bathroom for a while until he is totally back to normal.

If his behavior doesn't settle down right away, be patient. Testosterone affetcs the brain, and sometimes the behavioral changes associated with neutering take some time to occur, because the behaviors learned under the influence of testosterone take longer to be "unlearned" (replaced) than just the removal of testosterone from the body.

6. Mine was snipped at 4 months
When I picked him up, he was awake and doing fine. The vet says the young ones bounce back very quickly.

10. Please stand firm on no declawing -- That is like torturing your kitty.
It's like removing a joint from your finger -- sooooo painful.

9. Our little guy was done on the 11th
No food after 8 p.m. the night before and no water after midnight - paid a little extra for a pain injection just in case - he did absolutely fine, came home the same day and was as active as though nothing had happened. We were hoping he would calm down some, but he is still very wild. He'll be 5 months old on the 1st. Your kitty will be just fine!
