5. It can be.
I listen to it come from my garage on a regular basis. From my 13-year-old (yeah...he likes the old punk) and his friends.

My neighbors just lurve me.

15. it's too awesome that your post #666 was about rock and roll
I would have suggested those two as well - have you heard the versions of those by stiv bators/dead boys? Fantastic stuff.

21. Dead Boys did both of those?
I've been trying like hell ( no pun intended commenting on post# 666) to find old songs obscure enough (but yet known well enough to jog listeners' memories) that no one else had redone 'em, but keep finding out I've been beaten to it. Recent example is Can't Seem to Make You Mine by the Seeds, but both the Ramones and Shirley Manson and Garbage have done it. A particularly depressing example is Woman's Got the Power, by Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers ( more recent of course: mid 80's) and turns out Christina Aguilera does it. Wanted to bring that one to the blues and soul band I played with in Santa Fe last night, but Christina doing it too kind of takes the air out of that one. From your DU handle; are you a harmonica player? That's my main instrument with this particular band , but sing and play sax too...

25. yeah, well sort of
Stiv Bators did "too much to dream" solo, but I think it may be on a dead boys 7" (there was a time after the bators solo singles that the dead boys were touring and playing his solo material). They did "hey little girl" a bunch of times on different records, as did bators.

I'm not really a harmonica player - I used to play a big. I now mostly play ukulele, just for fun, though I've played bass for a long time, and was in an all electronics band for years as well where I also sang (I'm a composer by trade, so I'm still very involved with music though).

I wouldn't worry about aguilera doing a song you want to do. It may even mean that more people will know it and appreciate your version. I personally really wanted to do a cover of her song "beautiful", but then met someone else who was doing it, and that kind of took the wind from my sails.

17. "Just Like Me" and "Steppin' Out" made the "Nuggets" box set...
...which is probably the single greatest garage rock collection in existence.

I'm not familiar with this version.
The version that made the charts that I
remember was by Jørgen Ingmann.

By the way, excellent list!
