Someone please get me out of IKEA before I buy out the store!
Went to IKEA for the first time this weekend. I think I could've skipped the Mall and stayed right there the whole time. Way cool!

1. However, the quality sucks!
I still get poked in the ass by my IKEA furniture. Unfortunately, I have little choice as my employer provides the furnishings and unfortunately they have an IKEA fetish... :(

2. I think the quality depends upon what you get
I have two task chairs that I absolutely love from there (the Snille chairs). I have four dressers, three of which are great, and one whose drawers do not slide very well. But I chalk that up to my being in a hurry when I was assembling it.

I also have two of the Poang chairs and LOVE them.

4. Yes, c'est exact!
My bed is f'n awesome and so well made..and expensive. The desk too. I think a lot of it is a) cost and b) competence of assembly person. :)

6. Yup
My next IKEA purchase is going to be the Billsta Pub Table set up and two barstools. I want a table that is higher than counter height for our breakfast nook, one, to serve as a breakfast nook, and second, to serve as an additional workspace (I am over 6 feet tall, and my back breaks when I work at our counter tops...and our counter top is not an even work surface anyway - it is 3 x 3 tiles... :puke: ).

5. The McDonalds of furniture
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 01:53 AM by JCMach1
the only thing I voluntarily buy from them is photo frames...

I have also lived in Asia too long... I hate minimalism/cubism/whatever the heck IKEA is!

Sorry, but crappy IKEA furniture is one of my pet peeves... like nails on a chalkboard...

Almost as bad as the Olive Garden!

7. My point was that not all of it is crappy, cheap, or of poor quality.

9. I like how the curve of the glass overhead...
makes the fish look like they're BELOW the glass.

Especially when a shark swims by overhead!

10. I like the whole effect of seeing all those different fish from underneath.
Very upclose.
