At Chez Sniffa, it is tacos, nachos, black bean sautee...with homemade Guac, Newman's salsa, and sour cream.

Later on, frozen hors d'oeuvres, including a massive box of pigs in blankies :rofl:

which i can't fucking get right because my mom doesn't remember ever making it when i was a kid, despite her making it more times than i can count...

boneless pork chops, baked in Lipton onion soup mix, with potato slices. i've tried to recreate it twice and didn't fair too well either time. :(

PORK CHOP BAKE

6 pork chops, 1 inch thick
4 med. potatoes, uncooked, thinly sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. water
1/2 envelope Lipton onion soup mix

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown pork chops and drain on paper towel. In large deep pan, lined with foil, arrange potatoes, pork chops, onion soup mix, and mushroom soup with water. Cover with foil and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

It's for the dogs. They got one for Christmas, too.

Back before Saran wrap, aluminum foil, and tupperware, there was corn husks.

Funny story, Gerald Ford came to my school in south Texas when he was running for President. They served him tamales, which he had never seen, and he tried to eat them with the husk!

unroll the crescents and slice each triangle into two triangles then roll up the lil smokies and bake as directed on the can

serve with gourmet mustards and BBQ sauces

45. We are having friends over. What we are serving...
Cheese fondue with bread chunks, chips and dip, cheese/summer sausage/crackers, vegetables, taquitos, assorted nuts and relishes, an assortment of Christmas cookies and fudge, and an assortment of drinks. One of my friends is bringing her fondue pot too, and we'll have chocolate fondue with fresh fruit in that one. I don't know what the other two couples are bringing - appetizers of some sort.

65. SO can't even tell me how he makes his crust but I know his go-to ready-made dough when pressed
for time ---Trader Joe's, in the refrigerated case. That dough, a pizza stone and a little practice and you're well on your way to better than take out. The sauce is a basic red sauce reduction. Toppings almost always are better cooked beforehand.

61. Marinated pork tenderloin, collards, boiled potatoes, and rolls.
I made up a marinade today, having never done pork tenderloing before. Lemon juice, olive oil, paprika, bouquet garni (from Penzeys, as all our spices are), shallot salt, pepper, and 8 or 9 cloves of garlic (I lost count). It turned out pretty well.

We do collards pretty simply around here: wash and slice up the collards, saute onions until soft, add in some garlic and lemon zest, throw in collards and add a bit of water to the pan. Put a cover on to steam until just past bright green (it's still bright just a bit darker). We eat them with roasted garlic mayo. Mmm!

Served with french bread and fresh spinach salads. Had an excellent white wine with it all.

Now I am miserable and not completely sure I want to drink any champagne later.

Wouldn't ya know it? Material Girl goes to a New Year's Eve slumber party and her father and I eat ourselves into oblivion and pass out watching tv... Gawd. We are so lame.

71. Swedish meatballs, yellow rice, asparagus spears with hollandaise...
Hollandaise is the only way I can get my kid to eat his asparagus. :-)

We had fresh Appalachian Brewing Company porter to go with. :beer:

73. Last night was just

Quorn chicken patty sandwiches with Marzetti's Ultimate Bleu Cheese dressing and lettuce with fries.

This morning was a big dutch baby pancake with cooked apples and raisins.

Today is snacky stuff: nachos, a selection of olives from the Wild Oats olive bar, spinach dip, assorted cheeses with crackers.

Tonight is black eyed peas (for him), sauerkraut, collard greens, baked potatoes w/butter & sour cream. And a rare occasion in our home, we're going to split an organic sirloin steak that is at this momrnt marinating in soy sauce, freshly diced garlic, salt, pepper, and capers.
