What Windoze error message do you hate most?
I mean, I hate them all, but the one that really, really pisses me off is when the bloody operating system crashes my computer then, when it starts up again it runs, Scandisk and criticises ME for not closing the damn thing down properly.
And somewhere Bill Gates is sitting in his underground lair counting his money. Bastard.

1. The
illegal operation one that shuts down whatever I'm doing.

I cannot figure out how changing screens or going from one site to another is illegal.

2. Yes
That would be the one. And it says it so rudely too...

"Since you FAILED to properly shut down windows (you big giant arse-faced loser), we're now going to take 2 minutes of you life you'll never get back (not that you have a life, but y'know) to run our utterly useless scandisc program. And you know what you can do about it? NOTHING! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!"

Tossers. :grr:

3. Application has performed and illegal operation....
in UNKNOWN module....
THAT has to be the worse since you can't really tell what the hell
just happened.
I work in IT tech support and believe you me...I've seen them all.

Does the Windows splash-screen you see when booting count as an error message? ;-)

Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

7. Here's how to fix that:
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 09:25 PM by twistedliberal
(Assuming you're running 98 or ME)

Start -> Run

type "msconfig" and hit OK

click on "Advanced" button

Check "Disable Scandisk after bad shutdown"

On Edit: I really hate the error-recovery dialog boxes that come up in Windows XP that want you to send the error report to Microsoft and to "click here" to find the solution, and it seems to never be able to give you more information.
