When did Porsche introduce a station wagon?

This commercial I just saw is very strange. A guy is revving up his Porsche Cayenne station wagon to show off to his friend who is listening to the exaust on the phone. And it's a Porsche.

I've never seen a guy who was proud of a station wagon; much less a commercial about it.

What gives?

Porsche just released the V6. Most models (and all 2003's and before) had a V8.

The Cayenne is a beefed up VW Touareg - made by Porsche with VW parts.

Some of the parts are shared, but most of the Cayenne is Porsche parts, including the engines, drivetrains, suspension, etc.

But the transmission, the V6-Engine (AFAIK not available in the US) and most of the design are identical. The Touareg has a few design flaws less, but the Phaeton design isn't everyone's favourite either.

Comparing the prices (not that I have the money for either) I'd pick the Touareg; the Porsche brand is hardly present in the Cayenne anyway.

You might want to wait for the just-announced V-12-powered Cadillac Escalade SUX. Bodies are stacked like cord-wood in Bu$hco's War for Oil, Peak-Oil nears, the rich-get-richer-and-the-poor-get-fucked, and GM is putting a fuel-sucking V-12 in one of the most egregious passenger vehicles ever built. Guess what? They will sell like hotcakes in Texas.

I thought Porsche started his own business ("Porsche") in 1948; the VW bus was the first VW design not by Porsche (by Ben Pon AFAIR) .

I might be mistaken - the early VW years are somewhat shady.

I think it was designed by Porsche because I take Bus transmissions and put them with a Beetle Motor. That's why I think Ferdinand created the bus because he liked to do that with his vehicles. Old Porsche parts and old VW parts are very simular.
