Please make Your presence felt tonight as pResident Bush answers Tim Russert's softball questions tonight when he tapes the interview for Meet The Press. As each lie spills from his smirking lips, give him...perhaps, an audible shock...so that mystified Americans can see it as a sign and finally wake their dumb asses up.

O Lord, please help Tim Russert find his balls tonight. Make him imagine that he's actually interviewing Howard Dean or some other Democrat so that he might actually ask questions that don't involve baseball or the Buffalo Bills.

Jesus, please help Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell to see that anyone who uses the phrase "black Republican" is truly an oxymoron. Let them know, O Lord, that when the Evildoers are cast out of the White House, their souls may be restored and their brethren in the Democratic Party will forgive them and welcome them with open arms.

Please deliver Thine justice upon Vice President Cheney, who has been busy running Halliburton and outing CIA operatives from his "secret bunker" in the third ring of Hell. Dispel the wicked wizardry, O Lord, that gave this Tin Man a heart that beated again. Perhaps raise his cholesterol one point, sweet Jesus, for every American soldier who dies in Iraq from now on.

I'm just kidding, Lord. But he is a very, very bad man. Please help the good people of Democratic Underground to pick up the torch of this thread and have a "Pray AGAINST pResident Bush" thread with the day number EVERY day, even if I should not be around.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the privilege of being free, and for the wonderful ideals of democracy, where every person has a voice and a vote. Please protect those ideals this year. Please cause confusion and tumult as Diebold and the other vote-stealing organizations attempt to fix the election. May the candidate who TRULY receives the majority of votes of Americans win. May all Americans of legal voting age get off their asses and register and vote.

Lord, You know that Dubya, although You love him just as much as you do decent people with kind hearts, is neither a good leader, nor a good Christian, nor the legitimately elected President. I believe that You can do anything -- You could even enlighten Dubya, if You chose to. But because You give us free will, for the most part, You probably won't. That's OK. All we ask is that You not allow him to steal the election again.

May the Democrat who will best exemplify Your son's example of selfless sacrifice, love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion for the downtrodden, and demanding accountability from the privileged few be nominated, and may he win in November so that our wounded, divided, hurting country can begin to heal.

and others.

May he feel the pain of amputated limbs and endless headaches from bullet fragments. May he experience fully the anguish and terror of joblessness, of losing his home, his loved ones, his way of life.

Dear Lord, give George only what he has given us. Give him all of it.

6. I believe that prayer is serious.

However any of us define "God" or a higher power of the energy force that gives light and life to our universe, I think that prayer is a serious subject. I think that George W. Bush is sick brother. Unlike the sociopath in Florida who just murdered the little girl, George doesn't consciously understand that he is evil. And that is truly pathetic, because he ranks among the most terrible leaders in history. Too often, it is his type of evil --a combination of unconsciousness, higher meaning falling on lower beings, plus fear -- that makes for such evil. But be aware of this: the dark energy force that we call "evil" rules bush and cheney; they do not control the force. So pray that George wakes up. Pray he developes a consciousness.If he does, then he will have to make ammends for the evil that he has done. Pray that we do not sink to his level of allowing fear, hatred and greed to rule our political and social activities. If there were a "democratic demonstration" this summer, of one million oppressed people, who spent three days fasting and praying in front of the Capital, it would rouse the awareness of many people who are now "republicans" but who would open their eyes.

11. Dear Lord deliver us from Dubya

Please wake the sleepwalkers and open their eyes to the future we will leave to our children if he is re-elected. Let there be an outpouring of understanding and let a mighty "Bullshit!" be uttered from livingrooms across the country every time he opens his feeble mouth. Please stop him from hurting more innocents. Let his words be garbled and his audience be lucid. And let the truth escape and do what needs to be done.
Smite him with impeachment.

12. Dearest Lord, our God, the rock of our faith and hope for the

hopeless, maker of Heaven and Earth, you gave your Son, Jesus, to die for our sins.
It is time to be proactive in our pathetic little lives again, Lord. In this country we have a pattern of evil that is hard to break, it will take another of your messengers to do it, as it appears we cannot.
Lord, I can't pray against someone, you have taught us that is not right, that all men, no matter how bad are equal in your eyes and due your kind compassion and indulgence, so Lord I can only pray for positive things.
This I ask of you Lord, open the eyes of the sighted who still do not see what is being done in our names. Open the ears of the hearing who still do not hear the lies they hear. Open the hearts of the uncaring and help them be filled with Your loving ways.
Finally Lord, make the venal among us truly believe their greed and gluttony are abominations before Your Holy Name, and let them use their vast wealth to help all men live better lives.
