What's the most obscene place you've been to?
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 02:37 AM by northwest
I've never been to a strip joint, cause I think it's the same as flushing money down the toilet. I have been to Sex World in downtown Minneapolis (one of the largest porn stores in the Upper Midwest) a couple times tho. And both of hose times I was with my ex-girlfriend (when we were still going out).;);););););););)

1. The top of Kloochman's Peak in Washington
I went alone. From the top, in every direction there was nothing to
be seen but gigantic clearcuts. It looked like something out of
a post-apocalyptic movie.

I don't know if it's the music, or the montage of plastic crap, but I get a creepy feeling when I'm in there.

4. Some burlesque place in London...
...which was actually a mob racket, and it cost me 80 quid to get out (being pressured to buy an awkward looking 'hostess' two martini glasses full of red sugar-water andf being presented with a bill of 40 Pounds each, by a very big 'waiter').

5. I have a strip club story
Over 20 years ago, a bunch of us got up the nerve to go into a large nudie bar for lunch. One of the acts involved two young ladies, each with a can of Reddi-Whip. We heard a rumor later that if they had done this act again the fuzz were going to raid the joint.

7. A place in Racine
It's called the birthplace of the Republican party.

Only when I was there over a year ago, they had turned it basically into a Bush propaganda center.

16. Several "Porno Picnics" in Houston (the Old Montrose)
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 08:44 AM by Bridget Burke
Featuring performances by the Original Ooze Brothers (Mongo & Lloyd), performances by "real" bands--& other sorts of performance.

Interesting costumes for many onlookers/participants, with odd sunburns the next day. Ah, the 70's--when life was simplex.

Edited to add: Plus several visits to the Cellar Club in the 60's--a friend of mine knew some guys in bands. Why were the rather chubby waitresses wearing bras & panties? Why did our cokes have whiskey in them--years before liquor by the drink was legal in Texas? It seemed odd at the time. Looking back, it was scary.

21. redlight district -- Amsterdam
with my Spanish girlfriend and a couple of genuine Gypsies. Just walking through. Actually kind of touristy. Saw a lot of 60 year old couples walking around. Some of the streets are quite safe, but there are one or two that when you turn on to them, you can tell they are dangerous. & since Amsterdam is so maze-like in its layout, there is a definite layer of danger if you are in this area after sunset.
Capitalism in its "purest" form. No Calvinist overtones.
Leave it to the Dutch.
Also saw a lot of African wares for sale in the flea markets and couldn't help but wonder if they were actual colonial spoils from 400 years ago.

25. once had to take a mentally retarded male client
to his monthly porn movie. I was working as a resident advisor at the time. I had to walk him in there, it was sooo gross and someone grabbed my leg... ewwwww. Fortunately I did not have to stay and watch. Then I had to go and get him so he could go back to his apartment, later. It was cool that he was able to do this, but I would rather not have had to take him there.

30. An oil refinery in NW Washington
I mean, you take one of the prettiest natural settings in all creation, one of the best estuaries for migrating waterfowl, and what do you do with it? You put one of the most polluting, ugly, stinking possible industries there, one with a constant flow of tanker ships and tanker trucks coming and going to maximize the possibilities of oil spills.

Now, THAT is truly obscene.

32. Mohawk Valley Community College - Utica, NY
It's more of an advanced Junior High School as opposed to an institution for higher learning. The dormitories were filled to the rafters with the offspring of those two mountainmen from the movie 'Deliverance'. I've never so many knuckle-dragging cretins! I swear, Central New York State is the Appalachia of the Northeast!
