Help! I just unloaded on neocon
Okay.

I share coffee with a few other people in my office and one guy is a staunch conservative. I usually just ignore his barbs and he, for the most part, doesn't really talk politics with me. For some reason, today, he dropped this line"

"Have you seen the photograph of John Kerry from the 70s? Guess who he's sitting next to? HANOI JANE. They should remember that when they bring up Bush's record"

As as a disclaimer, I am not even a Kerry supporter; I am a die-hard Dean supporter. But, something snapped and I lit into him like there was no tomorrow. "Goddamn it!" I sputtered. "Bush's daddy had someone pull strings so he could guard the oil reserves in Texas. ALL those guys Perle, Wolfowitz, Limbaugh hid when the draft came and left it to the little guy to fight the war. I am so sick of these people wrapping themselves in the flag when they were running scared." Actually I said a lot more than this and a small crowd formed around his cubicle as we went back and forth. I don't think he saw that coming.

I am still shaking.

3. Dang - good for you!!
I'm glad the dems and smart people are finally speaking out and not taking it any more. We've been quiet for far too long, and now look where the country is.

Applause to you!

...can sit next to whomever he goddam pleases. :grr:

Plus, he's NOT sitting next to her, he's like 3 rows away... :eyes:

Plus, now, thanks to Joe Conason's research, we know that photo was taken two years before Jane took her ill-conceived trip to Hanoi. Talk about a non-starter desperation move.

5. apparently
the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam is no big deal though. Anti-war demonstrators, people exercising their first amendment rights, now that's something to bitch about.

I unloaded this morning too. A military retired lifer told me even if the Dems win the jobs will keep going overseas. I told him Kerry is going to kick the shit out of neocon facist Nazi corporate criminal bush. He said Stevo, haven't you been telling me about the electronic vote stealing ? Bush will win. I had to take a walk or I would have gotten fired. I hate repukes.

7. Bravo!! Good for you!
God, I would have loved to have been there! Now if we could only get the dems IN OFFICE to start acting like that once in a while (not the candidates, mind you)we might have more than half a chance in this fight!!

8. Wow! Physical proximity with Jane Fonda un-veteranizes you?
I guess all the vietcong soldiers he shot came back to life as soon as he came within 10 meters of the lady. Wow.

9. I let 'em go on until they mention Clinton
Then I interrupt and ask, "who's president now?" "Bush" "then let's talk about Bush".

Every time a neo-con mentions Clinton or something else unrelated, I stop the conversation and re-focus.

It works becuase most Repubs and neo-cons are dumber than dogshit.

rich kids' squadron of the Air Nat'l Guard, but wrong to be against the war, even if you picked up a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts on your way to discovering your opposition? Why is it okay for B*sh to have skated out of Vietnam on his daddy's money and influence, but wrong of Kerry to have served honorably and bravely? Why do you hate our troops so much? Why are you a traitor? Why are you against America?'

Hey if the freepers can use those tactics, then so can we!

Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 10:22 AM by RandomKoolzip
And tell him this: Guess what pal, turns out even ROBERT MACNAMARA knew from the start that the War in Vietnam (or is it still classified as a "police action?") was unjustified and too costly; but they went ahead anyways and continued fighting the damn bloody stupid war, just to save face. So it turns out that Kerry, Fonda, tens of millions of other Americans (the ones with consciences, anyways), et al. were RIGHT. They shouldn't have to defend themselves against this particular line of bullshit, because they were correct all along.

Plus, Kerry actually SAW combat. Where was Bush, Perle, Wolfowitz, etc.?
