Anybody know if Veteran's Compensation Benefits are taxed?
Just found out my husband's PTSD was only rated at 30% by some paperpusher who is not a doctor. That amount won't do us much good. Hate to look at gifthorse in the mouth, but since he can't keep a job we were really hoping for more. Sorry, just extremely bummed here.

4. No, a Vietnam vet who has substance abuse, rage, and can't keep a job
He is in AA now and much better, but he has lost so many jobs is afraid to even try again. He is going to have to now, ends won't even rub together on the amount he will get.

I don't mean to bitch, but dammit I can't do it all on my own anymore. I work nights and was hoping to be able to go to days if he got a decent amount. I should be sleeping now, but can't.

7. They aren't taxed
As others have reported but you should check with your county service office as many states deduct a percentage of property tax for disability.
Your husband needs to join DAV and get a service office to go to work on his case. You can appeal this rating for a higher one. DO NOT QUIT FIGHTING THIS.

9. Appeal!
get a second opinion. If he's unable to keep a job because of issues directly related to his service, then you should be able to request another doctor evaluate him.
