8. I remember one ex-boyfriend

who was so proud that he'd remembered to give me flowers for Valentine's Day. He handed me a brown paper sack. I looked inside to find what appeared to be clumps of dirt, or possibly dried dogshit. He said, proudly, "Look! I got you flowers!"

They were bulbs. I had to explain that any gift that requires me to grub in the dirt to achieve fulfilment is less than desirable. ;-)

10. Hallmark Day

The bookwoman and I have been married for close to 30 years. We have never celebrated "Hallmark Day".

Valentine's Day was nice in elementary school, but now it is a sorry day of inflated prices.

I kindingly say, "Everyday is Valentine's Day" with me. :)
