OK, well I can laugh now....
I threw my back out bad the other day. I can sit on a hard chair, but walking, lying down, most anything else is excruciatingly painful. Aleve isn't helping - ibuprofin isn't helping. It sucks.

Anyway, the bf begged me to go bed, but I said no, cuz it hurts to lay down. So I stayed up on night on the couch watching movies. About 6:00am, I skootched down on the couch and tried to rest. It hurt in that position, so I tried to sit up again. I couldn't. Hours of sitting on the couch caused everything to stiffen up.

I couldn't reach anything to pull myself up with, and it just hurt far too much to try to just sit up on my own. I yelled for the bf, who was snoring away in the bedroom. I yelled for about 5 minutes, getting progressively louder. He sleeps well.

So I figured I'd try to flop myself over onto the floor - if I could get on my hands and knees, I might be able to work my way up. No go.

I ended up on the floor, with no way to get up. So this time I REALLY yelled, and he came out. I got myself back onto the couch, and all I wanted was to get to the hot tub, to loosen up. I couldn't stand.

sigh....

He got the office chair, put it near the couch, I slid onto it and we slowly worked our to the back door. He crouched down, I grabbed his shoulders and pulled myself up, and he walked me to the tub.

An hour in the tub and I can walk like a hominid!! Who's got vicodin?

9. Erg. Not good. Load up on ibuprofen and heating pads and see if you can get into one later on.

8. So sorry. Try a licensed massage therapist. That helped me when
my back went out last year and muscles from my neck to toes were seized up.

10. Damn, MonkeyFunk! :(
Please see a doctor. Get some muscle relaxants and pain killers. See a physical therapist and/or a massage therapist. Please do something to take care of your back.

11. Backwards as it seems,
ice packs seem to help me more than heat.

AND

abdominal exercises seem to help prevent me throwing the back (but wait 'til you're feeling better before starting exercise)

both of those things seem 180 degrees off, but they work for me.

I got vicodin, but it's probably past its expiration date.

12. I'm worried about you.
You can do permanent nerve damage by letting this thing go on and on.

Please, please see someone about it...do you have any quick care clinics? I wish you could go and get several scrips--you need naprosyn, flexoril, and pain meds.

Thinking about you. :loveya:

They insist you see a doctor before getting help but you are in too much pain to get to a doctor. Arghhh.

23. No, not really better
I'm OK as long as I stay sitting up. Lying down even for 10 minutes locks everything up and it takes me half an hour of extreme pain to get mobile again.

So... I'm very very tired. I've hardly slept for the last couple days.

19. The one thing that helps me when this happens is to lay flat on my back on the floor.
Usually after an hour or so I can stand up straight again.

20. alas
I can't lay flat on my back at all. I can only lay on my right side, and even then only with my hips and legs in a specific position and my torso twisted to the left.
