Has anyone else had it up to their eyeballs with the evangelic agenda?
I defend their right to believe whatever they want but I am tired of having their beliefs forced upon me through law.

I am not gay but I believe in everyone's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I am too old to worry about pregnancy but believe in each woman's right to make that very personal decision for herself.

I can and do pray when I feel the need (even for a good parking place) but don't feel the need to make the person standing next to me do the same.

I love the diversity that our country represents and feel no need to change anyone or MAKE them conform.

If Janet Jackson's breast is exposed, I don't find it more offensive than the exposed lies that brought us to war.

Where is the balance? The majority of us are NOT evangelicals. Let's stand up and stop this loud noise.

2. God everywhere
Not "God" god, just GOD. In your face ALL THE TIME. There are churches on every corner, entire teevee networks about god, mainstream teevee shows about god, god everywhere. And STILL all we here is the the godders are being oppressed by the small perscentage of Americans bold enough to admit they aren't Christians.

Yes, I am sick of it. Pray. Pray your fucking little goddy brains out. ON YOUR TIME, ON YOUR DIME. But stop sticking god in my face every five minutes while you're whining about not being treated fairly.

3. But supposedly, Christians are persecuted.
Where are they getting this? They are dreaming this up...EVERYONE ELSE is persecuted. They say it's the end times because of this. They just want it to be the end times so they can preach a little more and get more money. They're evil, and wrong, and need to go away. I'm sick of hearing it.

4. It's even worse than that
I've noticed a trend of private companies being identified as "Christian". There is even a network of "Christian Businessmen" in our community. The place I worked for 10 years went totally fundie and non-christians (those who weren't that particular flavor of christian) were laid off or fired for nefarious reasons and replaced with people from the church.

I got into a lot of arguments over the years with my co-workers and I always got the same responses:

1. We were founded as a Christian Nation; and,
2. We (Christians) are a majority and in this country majority rules.

No matter how many times I countered the arguments, it was like talking to a brick wall.

Whenever I needed a management decision, I was told that they would "pray on it". Hence, no decision and a lot of pissed off customers.

If a shipment was screwed up, they would pray for us in the field who had to deal with it.

:grr: end of rant.

8. Where in the #$! hell...
do you work?? OMG, (THere's GOD again), they sound like some sort of cult.

I get absolutely pissed off at the Christian Nation notion. That is TOTAL BS. We were founded with basic principles of morality and total religious freedom. THomas Jefferson chopped up his own bible and took away the miracles and other things. Benjamin Frnaklin didn't even consider himself Christian. George Washington didn't like going to Church that much although Martha did. These stupid ignorant people piss me off with the crap they spew from hearing it on Rush Limbaugh.

If our founding fathers knew we we were trying to legislate morality and add amendments like the marriage thing, I think they would flip.

Anyways, I do hate the evangelical crap. Lost a "converted" friend last year to that garbage.

5. It's not about God, follow the money!
We will never catch up to the republicans in getting messages out until we learn to make it all about the money!

  • Ru$h has the answers - everything you need to know to understand why you can't be a rich guy too, but you will be as soon as we rid the world of all those tax dollar sucking liberals who want to take your wealth - all you have to do is sign up for the newsletter

  • Pat Robeson, Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell have the answers - homo perverts, abortions, your child seeing Janet's boob on TV? dig DEEP and give GENEROUSLY, amen!

  • Hannity, Coulter, etc, etc have all the answers to all the reasons your life sucks (and it's not your fault) - all you have to do is buy the book

And what do we want? Fairness, the ability to live and love without government interference, some humanity in the programs that enact to help others, a government representing me the individual, not the stockholder, sensible policies that don't make it cheaper to export my job to another country.

Sadly, there's no money in those issues, so they just don't have the strength to stand up to in the mind of the sheeple. There's no continuous media saturation of these ideals into the minds and hearts of Joe Average American - even though every one of those ideals are all things they are talking about at the dinner table or water cooler.

6. I have no
problem with the "live and let live" Christians. More power to 'em. But the fundies drive me nuts. I've said before that we need to give them their own state and let them secede and have a real "Christian nation." They won't be happy until they're living in a theocracy. We can give them Texas. Or North Dakota.

7. Yeah I have as well ...
worse than that , they are bringing into the schools where I live . My 10 years old brother has told me of two occasions during recess , two women were passing out pamphlets to children telling them that if they don't have Christ in their lives / hearts , they ( the children ) will be doomed to an afterlife in hell . I understand that they want to have their opinion and views heard , but leave the kids alone .

Brainwashing...
Is one of the ways they like to work. Brainwash everyone young in to your beliefs. Catch the kids before they are strong enough to think for themselves.

10. I'm a Christian, and I'm sick of them telling me I'm NOT a Christian.
I am a Methodist, but I attend my wife's evangelical-charismatic-Pentacostal-spirit-filled church. Every time the term 'Methodist' comes up, someone says: "Oh, but they're not REAL Christians!" They snicker and turn their noses up at the so-called 'main-line' denominations, and I'm SICK OF IT!

14. Mega Dittoes, Aristus!
:P

I get fed up with our fundamentalist bretheren telling me how I'm not a Christian because I'm not a fundie.

You say I'm going to hell? Great! At least I'll be away from you! :P

I am sometimes ashamed to say we share the same religion. In many ways we don't.

I'm Presby, btw.

13. There IS a theory of evolution.
And I resent the idea of it being tossed away in the public schools in favor of creationism. If you want your children to learn creationis, park them in a parochial school. Creationism does NOT belong in the public school system. Never has, never will.

Stop ramming your agenda down my throat. I've had enough of that.

I completely agree with you on everything, brigadoon.

Terry
