Idiot at the car wash today. *A Rant*
So, I went to the car wash today; it's one of those kind that a conveyor system pulls you through the car wash.

The instructions, on a sign in LARGE letters posted before you enter the car wash, say among other things, "Do not turn off engine. Put car in neutral. Keep feet off brake."

I do as the sign says, and am going through the wash just fine. The car ahead of me gets to the end, and the light turns green, signaling the driver to put the car in drive AND DRIVE AWAY........

Only, the idiot in that car didn't do that. No, apparently she did put the car in neutral, but took the keys OUT OF THE IGNITION, and DROPPED THEM INTO HER OVERSIZED, OVERSTUFFED purse. She starts digging, then looking in the rear view mirror, then out the side window, then digs around again, looks in the mirror again, blah, blah, blah.

In the meantime, MY CAR is still moving! I put both feet on the brake and pushed as hard as I could, but the front of my car kept bumping into the back of hers, AND by then, the car behind me had started bumping into the rear of my car. GRRRRRRR!!!

To top it off, the attendant who is supposed to be stationed at the exit had wandered off.

Idiot woman finally dug to the bottom of the Grand Canyon of a purse she had, found the keys, started her car, and moved forward.....about 5 feet.

By then, I'm yelling at her to get the FUCK out of the way! No, she has to check her freakin' hairdo in the rearview mirror before finally moving the fuck out of the way so that me and the car behind me could get out.

People like that should NOT be let out of the house!

1. My dear SeattleGirl!
Oh my god!

What an idiot she was!

I think I would have honked at her, BIG TIME!

My car wash doesn't allow anyone in the car as it goes through...thank goodness!

3. I wish this one didn't.
It's the car wash at Costco, and I love how clean the car is when it's done, but damn! I could do without Idiot Woman!

8. I din't want to honk the horn because I was in an enclosed space,
with another car right behind me. If I had it to do over again (and I don't WANT to do it over again), I would definitely honk the horn.

When I told MrSG about it when I got home, he said, "Well obviously you were in the wrong, because you had the audacity to enter her world." (He was being sarcastic, of course......).

13. I wondered the same thing, Thom.
Makes me wonder if she had to use all her willpower to NOT check her hair during the road test!

17. You haven't taken a driving test in a long time, have you ThomCat?
When I came back to the US two years ago, I had to retake my driving test. To say it was easy is an understatement. I could have put the car in gear and let it roll off on its own, and I'd have had a pretty good chance of passing. The entire test consisted of about four turns, three stop signs, and a set of traffic lights. Short of setting the car on fire or ranting about aliens eating my brain, I don't see how I could have had the chance to fail. There simply weren't enough things to do to fuck any of them up.

The biggest benefit of the test for me was the insight it gave me into the quality of driving required to hold a California license. Now, I drive as if everyone else on the road is a drooling idiot. Because, for all the DMV knows, they are.

I don't think people see that FLASHING sign that says all the things you're not supposed to do.
