So, I'm looking at Skinner's proposal to clean up GD, which I am happy to see.

It's time to be thinking about what Dem's should be proposing and thinking about when (cross fingers) Dem's get (re)elected in 2004. So..., I write up a page-long list of health care proposals, including some silly as well as some maybe realistic ones.

It's dropping like a rock below posts about anal sex, endless arguments about religion etc.

What does this say about the quality of thought here? Rather than just being critics of the current 'system,' which we know isn't working, we should be thinking about ways to change it. This means proposals, it means debate, and it eventually means legislation of some sort of the other.

I don't think that endless flamefests about personal, private things like religion and sex are going to do anything to help change things.

If you want change, you need to work for it. If we want things to get better, we need to do more than criticize the current situation. We need to propose something that's better than the current system.

So, that is the rationale behind my little attempt to improve GD that is unfortunately dropping like a rock right now.

Yeah, this is a true 'vanity post' meant to divert the discussion over to the health care post. But, it's also an attempt at changing the general 'meme' that is reproducing over in GD, which is a very negative 'meme.' Let's change it into a positive thing and think about ideas rather than 'gutter' topics.
