Life imitates Office Space
My boss's boss is taking two guys that look like "the Bobs" from Office Space on an extensive tour of our building.

2. They came into the server room while I was working on a big problem
I had to power-cycle a large server while they were there.

I went around to the back of the rack and pulled the power cord then plugged it back in so they wouldn't see me hit the power switch. My boss saw what I was doing and had to stifle a laugh.

"So, just what do you do around here anyway?"

9. SQL Server 2000 on a cluster
Fibre Channel drives and gigait Ethernet connections. Works pretty well most of the time.

My company also runs a couple dozen Linux boxes with modPerl applications and MySQL.

Every system has its plusses and minuses.

7. Windows 2000 Enterprise Edition
Needs to be rebooted maybe once every 6 months unless someone messes with it. The Service Pack 4 installer goobered it up. Now I'm running the uninstaller.

The SPs have been pretty well behaved in 2000, except this one.

15. We had weekly reports enstated
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 06:20 PM by DS1
We had to write down everything we'd worked on that week (looking for generalists that they could get rid of, even though most of the specialists were less qualified at their specialty), nobody ever turned one in.

The little fuck that tried to get them going would get so pissed, and send out nasty emails to the entire dev group, we'd all still 'forget', oops.

16. Beware "consultants"

Someone is going to be fired.

"Ya know you need to cut expenses".............

Well gee what is your insightful idea for doing that?
