So I had my little test at the hospital today...
Keep in mind I've had abdominal pain and the stuff that looks like iced tea coming out of me for a month.

Doing the prep was disgusting enough (and thank goodness for washable rugs...), but the sigmoidoscopy? :puke:

They shoved in the camera and warned me there might be a little discomfort. Well, the doc accidentially pumped in too much air or something because what I felt was a LOT of discomfort, ugh! I remembered an episode of the X-Files where the aliens took Scully into their ship and filled her with air as well (the episode she bowed out of in season 2 when she went on maternity leave, but I think that show is evil anyway so why am I mentioning it?)

It was almost fun looking at the viewscreen though. But all it did was show that my innards are as boring as the rest of me. :-( On the plus side, the prep I struggled through clearly worked... What I thought would take 15 minutes took 90 minutes.

The cool part is, the bits they took out of me for biopsy (taking small slivers of large intestine) didn't hurt at all, making me wonder why God didn't put in nerves in that area... or why God put nerves anywhere at all, the 'picking portion' was surprisingly painless.

And despite all the air they pumped into me (I felt like a balloon), I didn't pass any of it for 3 hours... By the 3rd hour I could finally feel the bloating so I went to the loo. Glad nobody was in there because I sat there making a quaint but continual noise for about 45 seconds...

So now it's a matter of time...

1. Hope it all comes out (in the end) okay
Did you get to see the inside of your guts on camera?

That's way cool.

4. Have they ruled out the parasitic angle? Cause it SURE sounds like it
from what I can remember of your symptoms.

AND have they treated you for a bacterial infection?

7. They ignored the parasitic angle until I had to go to the ER
The results were there and they, accidentially or otherwise, didn't pay attention and overlooked them.

It's been over a week and the anti-parasite meds seem to be doing the trick, I am feeling better. I'm not at 100% yet, but it is an improvement. However, 2 weeks ago I did appear to get better but then revert a couple days later. So I really don't know yet.

The bacterial tests were a complete negative, so they didn't decide to treat me for that.

I will have another follow-up with my doc, the one who looked at the report and decided to do nothing about it. I'm not sure how to respond yet, though if I'm getting better because of the meds, then the lab and every doctor who I was involved with were negligent. Especially doc #2 who read the report and said nothing had shown up in the tests. :grr: But, again, it's too early to tell. But once things look clear, I'll consider going back to the other clinic 30 miles away that took every potential sign with 100% seriousness. So far, I'm very disappointed with my new clinic.
