Couples somehow reluctant to set wedding date for 2nd Saturday in Sept.
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20040219_461.html

PHILADELPHIA Feb. 19 — When Melanie Lawrence got engaged last month and started making wedding arrangements, she quickly discovered a common problem facing brides who want to get married this September.

Reception halls, florists and churches often are booked for all Saturdays that month except one: Sept. 11, the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

...Bride-to-be Rebecca Haines, of Maple Shade, N.J., tried that logic with her fiance, Brian Murphy. She said he avoided being in the World Trade Center on the morning of the attacks because he got stuck in traffic.

...The two spurned offers of several hundred dollars off catering, limousines and florists. They settled instead for Sept. 25.

1. Sept. 11 is my parents' anniverary.
Of course they were married in 1962. But, last year we went to dinner to celebrate their anniversary.

2. I still celebrate my birthday
Without hesitation.

I don't really get into the Bush lovefest that usually occurs on Sept. 11 anyway.

3. Quote from the article:
Malissa Parrish knows she's one of the few getting married on Sept. 11. The idea doesn't bother her, although the 27-year-old from Terrell, Texas, has gotten weird looks from relatives, and even a double-take from the preacher.

"Really, for myself and my fiance, we just wanted to make it a good day because it's such a tragically bad day," Parrish said.

THAT'S the attitude we need. There is no sense in dwelling on the grief. We need to reclaim the day and make it a pronouncement on life and how it continues, and MUST be celebrated.

6. My sister & brother-in-law were married 9/11/1999.
They had the day before the terrorists did!
