Ewww, Something Disgusting Just Flew Out Of My Mouth

I sneezed.

One of those really, really hard sneezes that almost lifts you off your feet.

Out of my mouth flew this tiny...thing. The best way I can describe it is like some half-eaten popcorn kernel looking thing. It was light-colored, smelled like poo, and shaped kinda like a underwater explosive mine (little bumps and ridges and stuff).

Does anyone...ANYONE...know what this stuff is?

I've seen it come out of me a few times before after really hard sneezes and nobody seems to know what it is or where it came from.

What you have in your hand is what is known as "tonsil cheese", which is nasty and smelly, but essentially harmless.

I have had it since I was a wee one. A doctor once told me it is a combination of old food and bacteria/puss from your tonsils that lodges and hangs out for a bit until it is fully "ripened".

Yum.

I wanted to add that I notice an increase in da cheese when my allergies flare up or when I am run down and feel a low grade infection happening.

Most of we baby boomers don't have tonsils, they scooped them out the minute we got a sore throat.

every time a piece o' da cheese pops out I wish to HECK someone had yanked those puppies years ago.

Unfortunately, at 43, that si HIGHLY unlikely to happen.

BUT, that website I found says the can cure da cheese.

Do you still have your tonsils? If so, did you have many throat infections as a child? What you describe flying out of your mouth sounds exactly like the food particles that wedge into holes in your tonsils and harden. How do I know? Disgustingly, I get them too. I have what my doc calls "cryptic tonsils." That means my tonsils, while functional, are full of little holes from previous infections. Sometimes, food gets in there, compacts, and hardens. If you can bear to read on...when they get hard, they become irritating, and I have to fish them out with a Q-tip. Ugh. Yes, it's vile vile vile vile vile. But I'd rather have my tonsils.

The crap I fish out is small, white, looks like a half-eaten piece of popcorn, and definitely smells like poo.

I sympathize, brother!

Take a good look in the mirror at your tonsils--you may have more landmines waiting.
