I'm listening to "Flying" from "First Step." Just finished listening to "Around The Plynth" from the same album. Next up is "Gasoline Alley."

Stewart may have repeatedly jumped the shark in his career, must when he was in partnership with Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones and Ian McLagen, I can't find a single bad note.

1. Don't forget "Stay With Me" - might be the peak of Rod's whole career.

The list below is in reverse chronological order, but what a KILLER single CD.

Everyone who knows the history here understands that these were ALL "Faces" albums, whether billed as Rod Stewart or not. Mercury had Stewart under contract, Warners had The Faces, but it was all Stewart-Wood-Lane-McLagen-Jones...they ping-ponged between labels for each release.

I deliberately left "You Wear It Well" off for the fact that it was a blatant "Maggie Mae" retread, and even though I don't consider it jumping the shark, Stewart DID license it for use in TV commercials...the first indication of what was to come.

One of my favorite "genius" lyrics is when Stewart refers to his rich dad in "True Blue," singing "He wants me back at any expense, he's got a lot more money than sense."
