That was the year ('71-'72 season) the Lakers went 69-13 against much denser talent than Chicago in '95-'96 (17 teams vs. 29) and set, I think, eight NBA team records — including my favorite, largest single-game margin of victory with a 162-99 win over Golden State on March 19. That game prompted this classic line from announcer Hank Greenwald: "It's a good thing the Warriors are a good defensive ball club. Otherwise, this would really be a runaway."
