looking for a good book recommendation?

I picked up an old hard cover book at a tag sale and have enjoyed it immensely. It's one of those that ends tooo damned soon. You race to see what's happening on the next page, and then it's over. Gah!

Don't Stop the Carnival by Herman Wouk

1. I'm currently reading "Dreams from My Father" (Obama's first book).

I think it's very interesting for a biography. Some parts of it read almost like a novel. I'm going to read The Kite Runner next. There were some good reviews of it on DU awhile back.

You didn't say if you were looking for fiction or non-fiction.

2. I just ordered "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" by Vincent Bugliosi

It's Midlo's fault.

She made it sound so inviting I couldn't resist.

3. I just read "Cannery Row"

and thought it was incredible. Just one of those books you always think you "should" read, and I finally did.

Now I'm reading "No Country for Old Men". Not sure about it yet. I think the movie was genius, and evidently it was incredibly faithful to the book - like I'm reading the script.

I borrowed it from someone and then I lost it. I've felt guilty for a couple of decades about it.

Several people recommended it to me so I'm pretty sure it's good.

My co-workers look at me like i'm nuts, because these are the things i read for 'pleasure'.

Excellent so far. Very good read.

I'm reading the new David Sedaris book, it's making me laugh out loud on just about every page.

9. Reading "The Good Guy," by Dean Koontz

Anything by Koontz or Stephen King is worth a read.

11. McCullough's biography of Truman

Can't miss. History that reads like a novel. His first Pulitzer prize. 1,000 or so pages, but so worth it.
