Anyone else getting a ton of robo call spam on their cell phones?
I've been getting several a day, all from about five or six numbers, and all variations of some auto warranty scam.

1. I was getting a bunch on my regular and VOIP phones
I finally stayed on long enough to get to the talk to an agent person. When I finally got a live person I said "Why are you calling this number when I'm on the DO Not Call list? And said if I get another call from them I was turning it over to the authorities" Haven't had a call since.

2. For about the last two months, yes, the same ones.
Plus calls about some online education class.

13. Thanks. I didn't know Cell phones qualified.
My granddaughter's father got her a cell phone for her 9th birthday. She's been getting at least a telemarketer/robo call daily and I keep telling her to not answer any number she doesn't recognize.

I'll pass on the info to him.

6. File a Complaint with the FCC
Had a few of those calls on my Cell Phone. Which is illegal to do in the US regardless of being on the Do not Call List. Within 24hrs of filing an official complaint with the FCC the Calls stopped. Coincidence?

8. How? Is there a web page? Aren't they the same people who banned Janet Jackson's nipple?

17. FCC Complaint Webpage
Filed my complaint electronically.
esupport.fcc.gov/complaints

From what I have seen reported on some web bulletin boards about this. Appears the perpetrators are switching phone numbers (at least what is displayed on caller ID) fairly frequently. Can't say what the FCC can do about it. But at least in my case the calls stopped very quickly.

10. The problem is, the number keeps changing
There a several different numbers. Probably a dozen, now that I look at my phone logs. And there are two or three different recordings, but all the same thing. One starts off "Please do not make the mistake of operating your car without a warranty." The other "This is your second warning that your warranty is about to expire."

I don't think they're trying to sell anything (I never get warranties on cars, so the message is a scam to start with). It's some kind of scam. Guess I need to google and see what's going on.

11. Just found this story, and where they say to complain
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23147777/

"One of the most obnoxious and deceptive marketing campaigns I have ever seen is taking place right now. It uses postcards, letters, and phone calls to sell outrageously priced extended warranties."

"If you are the recipient of one of these sales calls, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The government has the power to sue these companies, fine them, and make them stop any misleading sales practices."

Plus, as someone above said, you can complain to the FCC online. http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

12. Yup
Just put my cell phone on the Do Not Call List for that reason. I was damned tired of hearing "Your car my be out of warranty....". Duuuhhh: my car is fifteen years old. No matter how many times I told the salesperson to take me off the list, I'd continue to get calls. They try that again, I will file a complaint.

This only started recently - before that I never got sales calls on my cellular. For some reason I always thought that was illegal, but I wouldn't be surprised to find the rules had changed thanks to massive lobbyist efforts. Gods forbid we should force corporations to respect our privacy.

16. If I were FCC Czarina, any company that violated the ban on
calling people on the Do Not Call list or spammed cell phones would be immediately firebombed.
