You have the cesspool which is W. MD (*cough* *cough* Frostburg!) too...and an ark. You've got a loonie building an ark...on top of a mountain. Cause Jesus told him too. Round these parts you'd get thrown in the Institute of Living (because CT Mental Hospital was too obvious of a name) for that sort of behavior.

...that the city also known as The-National-Mall-Surrounded-By-Dozens-And-Dozens-Of-Square-Miles-Of-Urban-Decay-And-Suburban-Sprawl once belonged to the great state of Maryland. And that a fine city that is both older and larger (in core city population) is located a mere 40 miles to the Northeast of said former city, to which one could argue that the former city is in fact a suburb of the latter. Not to mention the fact that the latter city's sports teams all manage play within the city limits, while at least one of the former city's sports teams plays in Maryland, of all places.

A true civic identify of its own, Johns Hopkins (both the hospital and the university), Fells Point, Canton, Federal Hill, Fort McHenry, Patterson Park, the original Washington Monument, Barry Levinson, one of the nicest ballparks in MLB, one of the nicest football stadiums in the NFL, an actual skyline made up of actual skyscrapers, and....

....a baseball team whose majority of fans were actually alive during the last time the team ever won a World Series. :)

Whose legacy is better? The world may never know.

Oh, and might I also add one more thing re: Baltimore vs. Washington--Baltimore actually has the benefit of a street grid that recognizes the concept of a 90 degree angled intersection, as opposed to a traffic circle with 15 different one way streets coming out of it.

We've had Democrat govenors forever and even our last 2 republican governors (DuPont and Castle) were moderate to left leaning.

Delaware is so fricking progressive we gave Al Sharpton his only delegate back in 2004.

27. I live on the border (Newark, DE), and I don't sense any tension...
All I know is that the arbitrary line that demarcates the two states makes a big difference. When I cross into Maryland everything changes. It goes from a relatively well -off urban area to um...hicksville. Just because of a line. Maybe that's just because I'm crossing in the Cecil County though.

But really I have no loyalty to this state. In fact I want to get out of this place as quickly as possible.

47. Hey watch it ...
I live in hicksville. We are close enough to the urban centers to go have fun but don't have any of the hassles. Rush hour for me it waiting for 6 cars before I can cross Rt.1. Both our income and property taxes are lower regardless of what the repukes say. Oh and car insurance, way way lower. Newark is a great place to visit and my fav camera shop is there. Oh and Ali Babas is there so it isn't all bad but no way would I want to live there.

Now it does get a little crowed in places like North East when the Dutch Navy heads our way on weekends and holidays.

53. Well to be honest I've never been into Elkton proper
But you're not the only person to tell me that it's better to live in Elkton than Newark. I don't know...I work here so it's more convenient for me but traffic is indeed a bitch, the property prices are ridiculous for what you get, and there's a lot of random petty crime (because students are easy prey).

Being able to go to Ali Baba's and Home Grown for lunch is a big perk though. Especially since I work at the University and can walk there in 5 minutes.

57. I'm not sure I would say
Elkton is much better to live in. They also have their problems but it goes along with a small town attitude. I am further west closer to Conowingo.

There is another problem if you live in MD and work in DE. DE refuses to do the reciprocal income tax thing with MD so if you live here and work there you have to pay DE the difference between MD and DE income taxes. Part of why I know DE's is higher.

The being able to walk to things like stores etc. would be nice. Can't really walk anywhere around here. I learned a long time ago to combine and stock up when I run errands.

Cecil County is pretty red but there are some of us left leaning people around at least. Converting more every day. Hard to believe sometimes that there are more registered Dems in this county when you look at who gets elected.
