I think I may have found a litter box the beagle won't be able

4. I've thought about this one, too.

One of my cats is slightly disabled in his back legs. Don't know why--three vets, three theories. Might be related to kittenhood malnutrition, might be genetic, might be from traumatic injury. At any rate, he has trouble jumping--which is not always a bad thing :) So, I'm not sure the top entry would work for him. The other two would be okay with it, though.

I've actually considered getting one of each. What the hell! I should be spending that stimulus check!!

5. Have you tried one with a swinging door on it?

It might deter the dog if as he went to stick his nose through, the door would be resting on his nose. My daughter has one, not sure where she got it. The door swings from the top and of course, swings both in and out.

I posted on your first thread on the subject. This litter box is cheap & "dog proof". I have six dogs, ALL about beagle sized & none of them can eat poop anymore. You can purchase this box at Petsmart or Petco, I believe they are around 20 bucks.

As far as me being on ignore, I can't blame ya. Heck, I haven't figured out how to put myself on ignore yet or I would have done it already!

I could see old Chairman Meow or Flea Taxi in it when it started to clean, it would scare the poop out of them!(probably all over the floor outside the box)

30. Nope...it just uses big pellets and a pad underneath that catches the urine.

Its big selling point is that it's supposed to be odorless. Which it is, because our cats refuse to use it.

Even using the suggestions in the box, they refuse to use it. My oldest cat slept in it.

So I had to pull the old litterbox back out. It's a sifter, too, but at least there's something to sift out of it.

box to see what they would do. I can tell that someone has walked around in it but nobody has actually used it that I can see. I think it is a great concept if they will use it . Trying all the suggestions, to no avail as yet.


I have 4 cats and 4 boxes they are using. They seem to like to pee in one and poop in the others and there is always one box that has next to nothing in it when I change them out.

21. I don't have you on ignore, Wcross ("Cross" is a family name-and I don't ignore my cousins),

but this is the only post by you showing up in My DU. Someone else also suggested the top entry box. I think it would work for two of my cats, maybe for all three. One has a slight disability in his hindlegs (hips, actually) and may have trouble jumping out. But the other two could use it for sure. I'm thinking about getting one of each. My eldest has flutd, and we should have at least a couple of boxes around.

So, yep, it's a good idea.

He/she wouldn't have to "jump" to get out, just climb. I am sorry for thinking you had me on ignore, I thought that if you did you should still try this type of litter box. It is dog proof in my experience.

I guess I could add paranoia to the list of reasons why I think I am on every ones ignore list. :crazy: Sometimes I venture into general discussion & piss off a whole bunch of people with my honest opinion. Seems like if you claim the sky is blue you will be lectured on how wrong you are by somebody.

I hope you find a good solution to your litter box search. Until I found those "clevercat" boxes I was getting worried about my dogs. I wonder what cat litter does to their digestive systems, I was always worried they would get "stopped up" & have to get surgery or something. After I got the boxes I started worrying that the dogs would kill the cats because they could no longer enjoy the cat poop. I worry too damn much.

13. Have you considered just putting the box in a hall

and installing a baby gate?

We've kept dogs out of the boxes for 30 years that way, after finding that any sort of covered litterbox quickly becomes off limits to the cats because the smell and fumes build up no matter how many times you clean it.

It *should* work. The miniature schnauzer I have here CAN get in and get the poop, but the beagle should be large enough to be thwarted.
