Well, I went shopping for a new pair of running shoes, tried on at least 20 pairs and nothing fit.

I am not picky about shoes, the only colors I will not have is pink or purple.

I hate shopping for shoes.

I really need a new pair, the running shoes I have on now are held together with super glue.

2. Thank you so much for the info.
There is a store about 3 miles from my house.

I have a wide foot with a high arch, it is just hell finding shoes to fit.

8. Wild. I always heard it was better to run Heel-Toe
Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 08:12 PM by PelosiFan
In fact, when I used to run a lot more than I do now, I had to train myself to run by striking the heel first, as my natural style was to land on the forefoot first.

It occurs to me, on edit, that that's the correct way for sprinters, and I've never been a sprinter, just a distance runner. So, I guess I'm ok after all. Still very interesting.

10. Landing on the ball of your foot cushions the shock of landing.
There is flexibility as the foot and ankle absorb the shock. You lose that shock absorption landing on your heel. Landing on the ball of your foot also gives you more leverage and spring as you push off to the next stride. It's just a smoother flow. Watch the Olympics, especially the longer distance events and the marathon. Watch how the runners land.

13. Yeah, I've been reading a bit about it since yesterday.
Looks like for distance running, it's like Ball-Heel-Ball... which is my natural way of running anyhow. To think that my knee issues and back problems might have been caused by my learning how to run the "right" way... Grrrrrr. Oh well, now I can see if I can start running my old way again.

5. I need to find some that are bouncy...

..so that I have good shock absorbers. Everything I find at the cheap stores (Shopko, Walmart) seem to have pretty hard soles.

Let me know if you know of any good brands.

They are quite bouncy.

I also have some Asics that are fairly bouncy.

Of course neither are what you'd call cheap. Quality costs.

15. I'll take a look at them...

Yeah, quality costs - but it also lasts a lot longer than the cheap stuff. I don't mind putting a little money into it. Thanks!

12. well... these are the best for "bouncy"
www.spirafootwear.com

because they actually do have springs in them.

And since I found them, I won't buy anything else.

7. Have you tried Zappos?
http://www.zappos.com

They have a great selection, tell you how to measure your foot for the shoe, free next day shipping and return if they don't fit. I got my husband a pair of shoes there because he is so picky. They had EXACTLY what I was looking for and it was here the next day. Love it.
