Some Kitteh advice please.....Gridley is new to our home
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x7926845

We have done all the normal things

Seperate litter
Seperate food

seperated from the other cat.

the question is:

He has found his favorite spot is under our sectional couch. There is plenty of room there it is dim and cool but that is where he spends most of his time.

We got him to spend a few hours last night with us. We held him, petted and brushed him and loved him and when we went to bed, he was being vocal and enjoying the run of the house.

When I got up, he was back under the couch.

We adopted him from a pet store where all he did was sit in a cage for days on end. SO

will it just take a little time for him to want to roam around and do things?

1. yes. He is a cat, curiosity will get the better of him and he will gradually
start exploring more and more.

2. He'll be running around and getting underfoot in no time...
When he starts getting bratty, you'll know he's acclimated.

3. My two kitties were ferals
I kept them in the laundry room for the first few days..even after they had the run of the house they would often go back to their favorite hidey holes in the laundry room..and would often sleep there...Its good he has a spot he feels safe in..He'll gradually get better...

4. Longtime foster here
it generally takes most cats 2-3 weeks to settle in, sometimes longer. Just let him have his "alone time" when he needs it and he'll come around. No worries!

5. that's normal behavior
it'll be no time at all before you cannot find him at all and you KNOW he's inside somewhere. Now please explain the name GRIDLEY. :D

7. It was his name when we adopted him yesterday. He is 3 and I assume he has always had that name
so we decided to keep it

it is kind of cool.
