1. Wow, that takes me back thirty-seven years
In 1971 I summered in England in the countryside just outside Bristol. The nearest pub was a five minute walk up the lane. No electricity, no plumbing, no refrigeration. Ale was still in wooden barrels, just like your picture. Even though the brewery had mostly switched to stainless steel kegs, the Star Inn still used the wood barrels propped up on the bench.

3. I had to take my shoes off to count that high
That, and the fact it's happy hour must count for something. Back then my choice was a brown split or as some establishments called it, a half and half - Brown ale and bitters. We also called it a barley sandwich if it was consumed close to lunchtime.
