Tattoo parlor sued again over another misspelled tattoo
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/1064210,tattoo071808.article

July 19, 2008

FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

A tattoo artist at a Northwest Side parlor is being sued for misspelling "tomorrow" on a man's tattoo and later attempting to mask the error with clouds.

It's the second time in 17 months the parlor has been sued for a misspelled tattoo. Tattoo artist Sam Hacker was sued in February 2007 after inking a man with "CHI-TONW" instead of "CHI-TOWN."

In the suit filed Friday in Cook County Circuit Court, Alfonse Wingfield claims tattoo artist Mike Edrington improperly spelled "tomorrow" and later attempted to fix the error by placing clouds around the tattoo.

1. The customer misspelled it. That suit is going to be thrown out.

7. Beware of that, too...
A friend of mine had a friend who came over to her house to show off a kanji tattoo that she had gotten... it was supposed to mean 'peace' or 'love' or something.

Anyhow... fast forward to my friend and her friend at a comic book collectors convention, where FoaF is looking at bootleg anime tapes. The Asian guy behind the table looks at her and starts cracking up.

My friend asked the dealer what was so funny, and he replied, "Why your friend's arm say 'cheese sandwich'?"

8. So if I tell them 'acca' and they don't correct it to 'caca', I can sue too?
Or did they mistake acca for abba? Either way, neither is English...

9. I was going to say
When I got my tattoo, the artist did a transfer first that I saw on paper and then on my leg, before she even got the needles out. I was wondering why the person getting the tattoo didn't notice the misspellings.

12. "Tommorrow Never Promised Today. John P. R.I.P"
I'd say that tattoo has bigger problems than the misspelling - what does it even mean?

As for the suit, if the guy was unsure of how to spell 'tomorrow' he should have looked it up first. I really hope that the court doesn't find that the parlor has an obligation to spell-check...

15. Umm, did he not notice the misspelling when the artist showed him the stencil?
Or when the artist put the transfer on the dude? Seriously, Pay attention to what the artist shows you and the spelling won't get fucked up. It's not like typing where it's a slip of the finger. There is a lot of preparation that goes into it, so you might want to keep an eye on that stuff.
