Do you have a family member or co-worker, who insists upon exposing others with contagious illness?
I am really getting ticked of with this.

My mother lives with me, and has been sicker than hell all week. She has a terribly sore throat and cough, and has barely been able to talk coherently because her voice is so hoarse. At first one eye, and now both of them, are blood red and seeping with gooey pus and infection.

She gets so feverish and takes such long sick naps during the day that I check on her every few hours to make sure she is still alive and breathing. I have begged her to see a Dr all week, but of course she knows better than any Dr, and has her own remedies.

Now she is getting worse, but it's now the weekend, too late to see her Dr, so she says lets just wait and see. She's convinced she will cure herself over the weekend.

I suspect she has strep throat and pink eye, both of which are very contagious. I don't mean to sound like an uncaring daughter or an ungrateful bitch. I have taken care of her all week, and she would do the same for me, and has.

But, dammit, this shit is contagious. And if, (when) I get it, it's going to hit me twice as hard, and take me at least 3 times as long to recover.

I swear, if she doesn't have a miracle or remarkable recovery over this weekend, I am going to bop her over the head and drag her unconscious body into the ER myself on Monday.

Thank you.

That is all.

11. An ambulance? For strep throat and pink eye?
I am perfectly able and willing to take her to a Dr myself. An ambulance is not necessary.

2. Non-doctor possibility for pink eye: when my children got pink eye
at their daycare, their doctor had me make a cup of weak tea, then take a clean cotton ball and squeeze some of the tea into their eyes.
The acid killed the pink eye. Didn't use any antibiotics. Has your Mom tried this? Since you are stuck for the weekend, maybe she can
give it a try. It might not work, but it won't hurt either.

4. She's been using a salt water mixture for her eye, and ..
a stronger salt water mixture for her sore throat. Both are getting worse now.

I'll mention the tea thing to her, but I seriously doubt she'll take the advice.

My left eye is getting infected now, so I'll try that for myself. Thanks.

10. Hey! I just tried that weak tea mixture for myself.
My left eye was getting a bit gooey, and cloudy with sight. For good measure, I squeezed a bit in my other eye too.

I'll be damned, the cloudy vision is GONE in my left eye, and I can see better now. It did sorta burn, and still does.

Thanks for the suggestion!

16. Glad to hear it. I think the 'secret ingredient' is tannic acid.

3. You've already been exposed...
So the fact that she's contagious is of little consequence at this point but for her own health, she really needs to see a doctor ASAP.

20. Just call her doctor and make an appointment...
It'll probably piss her off, but that's what I do for my husband, who is also a stubborn jackass sometimes.

My aunt is a religious fundamentalist, if that's what you're asking. :P

6. LOL! She's not a religious fanatic, but definitely a fanatic in other ways.
For example, she feels bush is the true god, and thinks she must have failed my upbringing, or that I was possibly switched at birth. LOL!

7. Any of her friends or family members that you can call to come over?
Maybe one of them can convince to go to urgent care or ER

She's ill, and home remedies obviously aren;t working.

 for you

 for your stubborn mom.

9. She has no friends. Nor any family that will have anything to do with her anymore.
 to you too! Thank you!

I am going to go try that tea thing in my eye that I saw up thread. BRB.

12. No. My mother's chronically ill and has almost no immune system,
so if anybody did that, I really couldn't be around them for fear of spreading something to her.

It really sounds like your mom needs to get looked at.

13. She does need to be looked at! Like, already!
Mom is now taking another sick nap for the last few hours, but at least I can hear snoring and don't feel like I have to check to see if she is still alive.

I was really kinda worried this week about that, but I think that was more my own paranoia and fussing.

I am sorry to hear about how sick your mother is. I guess my motives are a bit more selfish than are yours.

My mother is 76 years old, and is usually healthy as a horse. She very rarely ever gets sick. I am the one with a compromised immune system, and that is why I am getting more and more irritated with this.I'm already getting the eye infections.

If she is still sick on Monday, I'll get her to a Dr. Or, club her over the head and drag her into ER unconscious if I have to.

:hi:

14. My Dad did that with a broken hip. Refused to go to the Dr. We called an ambulance,
after he brushed it off for a few days. I think he was secretly glad that we took action.

15. A broken hip? That's pretty serious!
My mother is a stubborn old fart like that too.

If I thought my mother had a broken hip, I wouldn't let her bullshit or argue with me about it for a couple days. I'd call the damned ambulance, and take the verbal scathing I would surely get from her.

But for strep throat and pink eye? Naw. I don't think an ambulance is necessary for that.

17. There HAS to be more people here who have family or co-workers that insist upon infecting others.
Indulge my ire!

I am going to go squeeze more tea drops into my eyes. It burns like a bastard in my infected eye. But did clear up my cloudy vision for a while.

19. It happened at a medical school.
A boss went to the doc with the COLD from hell, was TOLD by the doctor to stay home, and he coughed all over my BF at work being a micro manager. This idiot had an Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) degree. He's an idiot.

So BF came home and got sick as a dog. Later I got it and was sick as a dog. Then my daughter got it and was sick as a dog.

Also, a supervisor went to see an elderly lady artist and he insisted on taking his ill, coughing secretary. There was no reason for the secretary to go. He took a video person to tape an interview. The elderly artist lady was in her 90s. About a month later the elderly lady was DEAD from pneumonia. Coincidence? I think not.

That means that people in medical schools are sometimes WHORES who have no concern for human life, so they infect others. They're only in it for the money. Disgusting.

:wtf:
