Anyone have any tips for getting alcohol-smell out of the fridge??? |
|
So, my roommate is a bit of a drinker and usually has several bottles of vodka in our freezer. I recently noticed that ice cubes weren't forming properly (kind of pock-marked/slushy) and that they made ice water taste kind of burn-y.
I poked around and discovered that one of the bottles was on its side and was leaking vodka in the freezer. I cleaned it all up a week or two ago, but I've noticed that ice and any other liquids kept in the fridge seem to taste like vodka. I think the smell/alcohol vapors have permeated the whole fridge.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any ideas how to get rid of the smell???

1. Try cleaning the freezer with a good disinfectant |
|
like Lysol ( liquid- diluted with water).
Then, put one ( or two) open boxes of baking soda in there.
It really helps absorb the odors.
Good luck.

3. I'll give that a whirl |
|
Thanks.
I had read something on another board about using wet newspapers or charcoal to absorb odors; hopefully, baking soda will do the trick!

18. When I worked on refrigerators... |
|
We were allowed to only use three items for descenting a cabin:
1. Vanilla Extract
2. Charcoal
3. Baking Soda
I've found that any combination of either three can do wonders with a foul smell.
