I'm over 2000 posts!

This is post #2008, and I'd just like to say:

Democrats make Historic Gains in 2004 Elections

November 3, 2004

The results of the 2004 elections are in, and the Democrats have triumphed. In a suprisingly large victory, the Democrats have gained 11 seats in the Senate and 93 seats in the House, regaining control of both chambers.

But perhaps the biggest suprise was Howard Dean winning the presidency by not the slim margin predicted but by 510 electoral votes. The only states carried by Bush were Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and 3 of Nebraka's 5 electoral votes. A recount is underway in Oklahoma. The popular vote margin was 60%-45%.

In the Senate Democrats defeated incumbents in Colorado, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Alaska. Democrats also held the Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina open seats, while they picked up the Oklahoma, Illinois, Arizona, New Hampshire, and Iowa open seats. No Democrat was defeated for re-election.

I can dream, can't I?
