Woo hoo!!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0956010903/ref=amb_link_7232452_2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=auto-sparkle&pf_rd_r=1NCF4A9PEDFFSTGTW3V3&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=422039001&pf_rd_i=beedle%20the%20bard

Gotta wait until Dec. 4, though, to get it.

And no, I didn't "pre-order" it. I just plain fucking ordered it. A few minutes ago, before I clicked the order button, going back into time to the big bang, was the period of "pre-ordering".

Fucking language abusers.

1. Dang, I didn't think they could do that
When the 1 copy (of 7) was auctioned (for almost $4 million; amazon was the winning bidder), I thought Rowling was to retain the copyright.

Maybe amazon negotiated another deal?

Guess they gotta recoup that $4 million somehow.

2. They would have had to negotiate with Rowling to publish it.
And the profit all goes to charity.

3. Agreed....
I'm just a little surprised that she (apparently) changed her mind. I guess she figures if it makes more money for orphaned kids... Looks like it's the same charity that the $4 million went to.

Any idea how limited the "limited quantities" of that edition are? Didn't see it on that page.

Me, I kinda liked the idea of a book that cost $4 million if you wanted to read it.

4. The limited edition isn't very limited (in my opinion) - it's 100,000.
It's funny, because for a hell of a lot of authors, selling 100,000 copies would be a major triumph.

For Rowling, it's a Limited Edition.

I do think, though, if one is going to call something a "Limited Edition", it should have less than 10,000 of them, whether it's a book or a print or a scultpure or whatever.

Having 99,999 other copies of the same item doesn't make ownership of one of them quite so special.

5. Yeah, really. Bit of a misnomer there.
I wonder if they'll even sell that many, esp. with amazon as the only outlet. Last time I looked, the Book 6 or 7 slipcase edition was heavily discounted.

Pretty, and nice repro of the original, but not sure I want to pay $100 for it.
