OK, OK. I admit it. I'm a man, and I use the shower poof.
It may not be the most masculine thing to have hanging from that little hook on the shower wall, but the shower poof works, dammit, and I'm not afraid to admit being a fan.

I never was a washcloth person. Cloth always gets to feeling like it needs to be washed way more often than I do laundry. And many of the sponge-on-a-stick products work great for hard-to-reach spots, but damned if there's any way I can manipulate them to conveniently cover the easy-to-reach areas without poking stick-holes through my tile. No anatomically specific utensils in MY shower!

I adopted the shower poof years ago (after the community shower days of the college years), and I don't see myself going back. F*ck it if it looks less than manly hanging there! F*ck it if there's a ladies-room-looking bottle of colored and perfumed liquid soap product sitting there, too! I ain't ashamed!

7. really?
Don't kill me if I guess wrong (it's been years), but... Cleveland Browns?

I have not seen the commercial. In fact, I don't recall ever having seen a shower poof commercial. It's a product that sells itself!

6. I had to start using a shower poof
because my husband and stepsons are kind of hairy, and it just grossed me out to pick up the washcloth and find it covered with hair. I started using shower gel for the same reason - can't deal with picking up a hairy bar of soap. Fortunately, none of them (as far as I can determine) are using my shower poof yet!

I dunno, maybe I'm getting too fastidious, but the thought of sharing a piece of cloth that people use to clean their private parts with is just horrid. I won't share a towel anymore, either, and because the boys are horrible about leaving their towels crumpled and wet, and then using the dry towel (MINE!), I've had to start keeping my towel in my bedroom. I just don't like the thought of sharing my towel, it's too much like sharing my underwear!

8. I hate washclothes
I own maybe 2 of them and I've got 10 towels and 10 handtowels (for my hair) in the linen closet.

That reminds me, time to replace my poof. I keep them for about 2-3 weeks and pick up a new one. I know they can be washed, but they're so cheap I'd rather just buy a new one.

15. Hasn't anyone except me heard of washing
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 08:09 PM by RC
washcloths between uses? Get a clean one, use it once, wring it out and lay it out on the edge of the tub to dry before tossing into the laundry basket to await the weekly wash. Hang up the towels.
No one but me uses my towel. I have enough towels and washcloths for 3 people for a week. I do the laundry. I don't have a problem here.

18. I was getting a little worried too
I must own over 40 washcloths. Use once, in the laundry it goes. Those poofs need to be laundried AND DRIED in the dryer on a regular basis. Otherwise, they harbor bacteria and mold (just like sponges).

Share? Never. (well...ummm...in some special occassions......umm)

20. not to hijack your thread, dude...
...but while we're getting in touch with our hygenic side, I pee sitting down more often than standing (well, when I'm at home, you know-- I mean I don't ever sit in urinals or anything like that...). It's comfortable, there's a magazine stack at hand, and I NEVER have to remember to put the seat back down.
