Poll question: As pets, which are more disgusting?
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 01:17 AM by Orrex
Please--no "other" answers here. If you want to go on about how much more disgusting humans are than either of these choices, post your own poll.

On edit: Not flamebait! I own two cats, and one of them just did something in the litter box so vile that I'm afraid my house will be condemned. Hell, they might condemn the whole damned neighborhood, it's that bad.

I don't care if you're a thousand miles away from me. It's that bad.

Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 01:28 AM by Connonym
hell, a dog will even eat the CAT's poop. Dogs are clearly much more disgusting (but I still love 'em)

5. A compelling argument IBTL
But one cat will think nothing of feasting on something on which another cat has already feasted and, uh, changed its mind.

Dogs are just interested in their balls.

9. Other/ Rodents.
KMA. Pound for pound mice are f'n scary smelly. Dogs rolling in poo and cats stashing food around the house hain't got nuthin on them.

Believe me. One tiny white mouse can jack the odor(and livability level) of a dorm room in record time.

Plus the beady little eyes. Cant even tell where they are looking, like with a decent predatory pet.

15. I've kept mice (plural)...
...and the smell was non-existant or barely noticeable unless you leaned right over their cage.

You have to clean it occasionally.

one of my dogs would eat it.

I have both cats and dogs and dogs win the "most disgusting" award hands down.

14. Other, Ferrets
Let them run uncaged and they will turn the deepest darkest corner of your house into their private toilet. You will find nests of socks with one hole chewed the toe.

I also remember the time my cat pulled a thawing roast from the counter. The ferret appropriated it and was trying to carry a piece of meat bigger than it was underneath a counter. He damn near did it.

Gotta love cuz they are cute and playful, but ferrets will mess with your world.

16. Dogs, hands down...
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 03:55 AM by oedura
One time events don't count. Once when I was a kid, we had a cat that apparently wasn't feeling too well that decided to come into my bedroom one night right after I'd went to bed and lay down a 1' wide, inch-deep (I kid you not) pool of diarrhea.

The second after that cat emptied its bowls, every other person in every other room in the house simultaneously yelled, "What the F*CK is that?!" I would have said it, too, but I was too busy supressing a sudden urge to barf. The stench was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad.

But dogs are still more disgusting in their regular, day-to-day behavior.

17. Dogs.
Maybe if a cat came over and dropped a SEVERED bunny head in my hand I would feel differently (thanks ALOT Punkin!)--or decided to have a one on one with a skunk as well, or pretty much rip a fox to pieces and come back covered in the mess....My sister has terriers. Nice dogs, but get into the grossest shit!:puke:

Dogs, who lick every place they can reach.

Edit: I guess cats do that too. But when a large male dog does it right in front of you, its disgusting.

They both do disgusting things, but both have great qualities as pets, companions, and fascinating animals.

25. Cats
Not only do they crap on the house, we MAKE them crap in the house. And then we clean up the in-house crap. Giant turd nuggets on the lawn are much easier for me to deal with than litterbox smell. Cat urine and feces just really bug me.

45. Dogs
I remember retching while cleaning up my room mate's daughter's dog vomit after it had eaten kitty nuggets from the cat box (out of my son's race car bed). We gave the dog away when she wasn't paying attention and she didn't even notice for about 3 days. They don't say 'Grinnin' like a shit eatin' dog ' for nothing.
