Isn't it no surprise why so many people are DEPRESSED as fuck this time of year?

1. It's the entire year, now.
Just look at your typical Sunday paper.

On average even in summer I get 6-12 flyers from local stores.

2. People need to get out and shop more.
I am getting tired of sitting in the truck stops all the time. I can only tolerate truckers for so long before I get annoyed. So for the sake of my sanity please go out and buy more crap that you don't need. Thank you.

4. sign me up for "loser"
I haven't even considered buying anything for anyone. My family is impossible to shop for. I may get something for a friend of mine who has done me a lot of favours over the last year - I'll just ask his girlfriend what he would want though.

6. if not being the "right" kind of consumer means I'm a LOSER,
then loser-ness is cool with me. The alternative is idiocy. Madison Ave guilting us into buying this new gadget or that new style or some new toy that everyone is dying for - simply because they've been hyped through advertising and we fall for it.

Nah, I am loving my loserness, which to me (in this case) is smart and logical. I'm not a sheep, nor am I a lemming. Just because an ad tells me that something is necessary doesn't make it so.

Christmas... to me... is lovely. Magical. It's about family and cookies and Santa and joy and excitement and giving... it's not about required purchasing and guilt if such requirements aren't met. Forget that nonsense. Consumer competition is not in my skill set, and man, am I ever thankful...

Do I buy Christmas presents? Damn straight - but not always... every time I've given my time to someone it's been far more valuable to them than the latest version of the latest thing. Buying does not equate caring. Not in my book. Sometimes it does, but that is always, and solely, my decision.

We don't even realize that Christmas has become an economic event, not a meaningful holiday. Not cool. Up to us to return the magic to it - we have to want to do it, though. Aye, there's the rub....

8. Funny, but
these days, having managed to live well below our means, I actually feel more like a winner.

10. I must be a loser then.
I will not waste what little money I do have on shit I don't need. What kind of idiot would go and stand out in line at 3 am for a stupid fucking tv they may not even get?

I thank the gods everyday I am not enslaved by consumerism.

11. Stop Shopping!
What Would Jesus Buy? is a great movie and this is the time of year to watch it if you haven't already.
