Need some advice about careers
I'm considering opening a website dediacte to careers with a message board, and career articles.

I'd like some advice from DU'ers. Since I cannot afford a market study, I'd like to pick the brains of members here in an attempt to guide me.

First off, I am not considering a "Job Listing" site. I'd like to focus on careers and chat between members on careers. Which direction to go, education, working abroad, etc. In general, a gathering place for people to just chat about their careers, not unlike the focused chat here.

So, if any of you could give me some feedback on the idea, I would be very greatful. Advice always welcome!

1. I once had the same idea
I would say you would need a little bit of money to get your website promoted on some of the bigger search engines. Ebay is a good site to get your website noticed. You would also need to find away to seperate your site from the many others that provide the same service. Your one gimmick could be the message board. I don't know of too many other job or career sites that allow people to interact with each other.

2. I'm interested
I'd like to know how people got to where they are today. Where did they go to grad school, how did they get started or stuff like that. You could have different professional areas: for example, in the medical professional area you could have a nurses post, doctors, pharmacuetical rep. area, then like a news area where people could post new technologies that they are using or stuff like that. Good luck!!

4. I started the career site
Well, I have started a career site. I have a few interviews in the bag to add over the next week. One of great interest is an interview with a national media sports broadcaster.

http://www.sitepunch.com is the URL, and if anyone has any career advice, I'd really like to do a brief interview for online publication. The forums for chatting about careers are open as well.

Thanks all!
