What did you do to enjoy your "bonus" day?
It was gorgeous in Chicago today, so I went and rode my bike on the lakefront trail.

My indoor training has paid off and I did 30 miles. I felt a little wobbly and like I pushed it a bit, but I've never been able to start the season at that level.

What did you do today?

1. Started cleaning out the back yard....
...and wondered when the next snowstorm will come.

Happy to hear you had a good day.

See you next Sunday.

6. Haven't tackled that yet
Today was all about FUN! It was great to emerge from the basement and get outside.

And, yes, you will see me next Sunday. And, if it's warm, don't be too alarmed if I show up in Spandex. :-)

5. Same thing I do every Sunday: nothing.

I get just one day a week off from my job, and I spend it as lazily as possible.

And that's why I try to cram in as much as possible. I try to stick to fun things on that day, though.

11. a bit of work
and then a fundraiser for my son's school at a skatepark. My son skateboarded -sort of, and I rollerbladed for the first time. ( i hadn't done any skating like that, other than ice-skating - since before there were "rollerblades!") I was the only parent that went out there, trying not to be run over by the really big kids. It was a lot of fun, but now my muscles are really sore. So tai chi yesterday, rollerblades today and yoga tomorrow and I will have pretty much exercised many of the major muscle groups.

13. I rode 2 miles.
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 11:35 PM by BiggJawn
BEAUTIFUL day!
I spent most of it tuck-pointing the brickwork on my girlfriend's foundation. My hands are a wreck from the alkaline mortar

Then, I went inside and plugged the worn-out screwholes in the basement door hinges so she could open the door.

And I rode my Huffy back and forth twice between my place and hers. Got it up to 14 MPH! (it's a 26" single-speed)

she went to Indy and saw "Cats".

I would have LOVED to gotten the lycra on and clipped in for an hour or so, BUT...

What an odd relationship. All the down-side of marriage with none of the perks.

But then today it's 63 out, and I'm sitting 2 storys underground at work.

Screwed-up sense of priorities, I guess.

Wanna know how I rigged-up an "anti-collision strobe" for the bike?

16. Breakfast, Took my Kids to the Park, Had a picnic
Went for a ride in the car, ran around the house yelling to the Dies Irae movement of Verdi's Requiem. After my wife finished teaching her Yoga Classes in the AM, I took a nap. Then we went out and bought our son a bike, went out to dinner, checked out a ridiculous Limo, went home, put the kids to bed and watched the Oscars. And so to bed.

6. Played with my new All in one thingie and new-old computer I bought the day before.

20. Did you test your new bed
after lunch? A little afternoon delight perhaps?

I bought a new bed last week as well. Unfortunately, the box spring wouldn't fit through the doorway and stairs to make it to my bedroom. My dad and brother had to take apart the door frame, cut a chunk out of it, and then remove a stair. What a mess!

But, it finally made it upstairs and I've been sleeping quite soundly ever since.

See you Sunday. :hi:

22. Of course. We tested it out right there on the showroom floor.
It will be a few weeks before we take delivery so we took a spin on the display model.

We were making lots of gleeful noise, so we attracted quite an audience.

25. Very little
Hung out at the house all day. :-)

It rained in the morning, but was very pleasant in the afternoon. Sat out on the back porch and read a bit, watched the birds swarm our feeder. Finally was chased inside when one relieved itself right on page 51. x(

Thought about taking the bicycles out for a ride, but couldn't decide where to go, and my partner was a bit sore after our volleyball game Friday night and our hike on Saturday.

When you say it was "gorgeous" in Chicago yesterday, what temperature was it exactly?

30 miles is very impressive. If we did a 30-mile ride, that would be our 2nd longest ride ever. We did a 36-mile ride last spring as part of an organized event with rest stops, etc. My longest unsupported ride was a 29-mile ride, also last spring. But that was very hilly, so I think I deserve credit for 30+. ;-)

And if we counted gravel roads as 1.5x paved roads, we'd probably have a few other 30+ rides as well.

Ok, what other special rules can I invent to make my mileage look more impressive? :-)

Peter

28. It was a great day...
I woke up early, and played with my 2 year old daughter. Then, Mommy woke up and gave her a bath. We all got dressed, went to Church and then went home. We opened up the windows and I got down to some serious grilling of Laura's Lean Beef hamburgers. I then went to the shooting range, and touched off a hundred rounds or so from my new Springfield .40 calibre XD. I went home, and my wife and I took our daughter to the in-laws. Our little girl got to play with Grandma and "Pop-Pop" for awhile, while my wife and I went to see the Passion movie. After that sobering experience, we picked up our girl, and went home. It was a good day. After dinner and bed-time for our girl, Mrs. FatSlob and I decided our Super-Tuesday votes and called it a day.
