He has to wear booties so he doesn't mess up her carpet. Do Americans not have removable boots? Are they permanently attached to your feet or something?

1. They are permanently attached to the feets of all techs.
Mine are steel toed boots.

2. I only have one booty and I shook it to the tune of 'Hey Jude' while robbing a pirate ship.
I took that booty and bought some mighty fine jewelry... eh, the stolen treasure, that is... ain't nobody gonna touch my but...

6. Maybe the crazy lady should provide footwear to people entering her house.
If she is gonna piss and moan about her carpet.

13. Maybe she's like the "no shoes" lady from Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry refused to remove his shoes and she eventually just snaps and goes on a quite comedic rampage.

5. Just to let you know
As a former service technician, it is illegal for techs to take off their shoes for safety reasons. If they hurt themselves, they can sue the company they work for (for placing them in harms way) and I've heard of the customer getting sued, as well. Thus, removable booties are in every tech's bag.

9. how is it odd or litigous?
maybe if you or your husband ever did field service work you would not find it so odd that you not be asked to remove your steel toed boots at the job site

it is perfectly reasonable to ask that the tech put on booties to protect the carpet

it is not reasonable to ask him to take off his protective boots

nothing odd about it, it's a safety issue

if he loses his foot, he can't work, he can't earn a fucking living

next question?
