Good morning Lounge
How was your weekend? Did you have a good time?
I visited DUer neweurope (who lives not too far from me) and we had a great time - as always. And as always I brought some cake with me.

Picture of the day (the cake I baked. It's called "Frankfurter Kranz" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurter_Kranz)

heading into the home stretch with Grad school, so I've been doing a LOT of reading...but one more semester and I should be done.

I haven't had any time for photography (too lazy, actually).

11. Good morning MissH!
That cake looks scrumptious. Good thing it's on another continent! :)

Had a great time the last couple of days. I'm glad that I was traveling back home Saturday versus Sunday. It's been snowing steadily since yesterday. My back yard looks beautiful.

13. Lots of wonderful
ingredients in that cake. A slice right now with a cup of coffee sure would make a good breakfast.

Temps about 28F here and still snowing, but only light snow. Guess winter has truly arrived.

Got to get myself motivated this morning. After being off of work for 5 days it's kinda hard. I should be getting ready for work. ;)

14. It is tasty
but one piece and it is enough. That butter cream is heavy. Two pieces and you need a schnaps afterwards ... LOL

Have your coffee and then you should be somewhat more motivated ... or not :D

Temps are in the higher 30s here.

17. G'morning
That looks yummmmmmy!! I'll leave proper cake building to the professionals :)

My weekend was good. The best thing that happened was I got internets fixed here at the house. I really never did figure out what the problem was, but we did a "work around" by adding another computer to the network lol.

I am by far no professional when it comes to baking. But I seem to have a hand for it. It was my first try with butter cream and it worked amazingly :)

Computer are strange things. I never figure out when they work and when not. After I move next year I want to go from DSL to WLAN. It will be a change ... I am expecting problems ... LOL

19. Good Afternoon, MissH!
that cake looks simply divine!!! Did it taste as good as it looks?

My long weekend was good - I don't think 4 days have ever flown by so fast! A good friend from college visited yesterday and asked me to be a bridesmaid. (actually she told me I was going to be one; I don't think I even had the option to say no!) I'm quite excited about it - particularly because she isn't the type to turn bridezilla! :woohoo:

The cake tasted delicious. It's just that you can't eat too much without getting sick. But yummy as hell :) I am so proud of myself that I got the buttercream done without mistakes or problems. First try turns out always to be the best. Just don't ask how my kitchen looked afterwards

I added some rum to the batter. :)
Try it, it really tastes gorgeous.
Interesting enough the recipe calls for water in the cream, I used milk. Here is another recipe http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Frankfurter_Kranz_(Frankfurt_Crown_Cake) that sounds closer to how I did it.

35. That is a perfect timing
I baked the dough the evening before. That way it can cool off entirely. And then do the buttercream the next day. And really make sure the pudding and the butter have the same temp.

No problem. I am busy here too.

39. I can't believe how much butter is in that cake
it is actually reminding me of a cake my mother makes (I don't remember what it is called) but instead of nuts it has caramelized sugar sprinkled on it.

I don't know why I'm so busy. Wednesday was practically dead, and I come in today with a huge pile of stuff to do.

Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 10:36 AM by blueraven95
in a really cool department in a rather prestigious university. (Don't want to give out too much information). But it is a geek's dream department. :D

So basically, while all these really cool things are being invented around me, I do the purchasing and reimbursements, and schedule meetings and travel, and layout reports, etc, etc, etc. I actually really like it, but there are always a ton of little things that need doing, so it gets a little hectic. (But it is still nowhere near as stressful as my last job, which was a casting associate - as in for tv, film, commericals. As much as I loved the real work, there was a lot of other stuff involved which made it a nightmare.)

P.S. I'm glad she's feeling better! If you talk to her, send her this from me

31. That looks delicious! Good Morning, MissHc
I saw a Momma bear and her 2 cubs running through the woods on Thanksgiving Day! That was the highlight. I got home Saturday and woke up yesterday to the phone ringing, begging me to come into work x( They called 3 times!! I quit answering the phone. They call from their cell phones so Caller ID does not tell that it is work calling. Ugh!

We wondered why all these cars had pulled over to the side of the road. We drove slowly past and I looked down the ravine into the woods and saw them. By the time we had turned around and pulled off the road they were tromping away into the deep woods.
:wow: :loveya: :wow:

As for work, I guess they had a lot of people call out. x(
