Am I the only one who doesn't like Billy Crystal on the Oscars?
Oh look....there he is pointing to people in the audience and making very safe jokes about them that they will politely laugh at. Oh great.....now he's going to sing the same friggin song he sings every year, inserting the names of actors and movies into it. How funny!

Honestly am I the only one tired of this after like 10-15 years of the same shtick? Whoopi and Davide Letterman may have not set the world on fire with their performances as host, but at least it wasn't the same tired old routine year after year after year.

2. I forgot about him...he did a good job....
Billy Crystal is just way too schmaltzy for my taste.

5. Billy Crystal is very tired and very old...
:puke: :puke: :puke:

It plays to an older crowd. Next year Dave Chappell.

6. Can you imagine?
Oh man...Dave Chappelle as Oscar host. There would be many a blown gasket.

7. Think Chappelle is the funniest guy out there now?
His show is a riot. Nothing is off limits but nothing is nasty. Just funny and very pointed.

21. You've obviously never seen the Elmopalooza DVD...
My 2 year old has a Sesame Street DVD wherein Jon Stewart is the host of Elmo's variety show. He sings a tune with Elmo at the end.

It's incredibly surreal, especially for someone who has been a fan of Stewart's humor for years now.

9. I'll take Jon Stewart
Now that would provide some uneasy political moments. Oscar-style.

10. Me No Like
Steve Martin's always been funnier, in movies as well as awards shows, than Billy Crystal.

11. I thought he was painfully unfunny
I have not minded him in the past but he really blew this time. Upstaged bigtime by Jack Black and Will Ferrell who were very funny.

I would like to see Margaret Cho host the Oscars.

17. I Think He's Always Been Painfully Unfunny
The guy has, quite literally, never made me laugh. Not sure why. Just don't find him funny and am baffled by those who think he is. I don't get it, even a little.

12. Yes.
Geez, it's only once a year.
Could be worse, he could be doing scenes from "It's a Wunnerful Life".

Or having the never-ending paternity test, like Maury Povich.

19. I'm in the minority here
I actually still find him entertaining and worthwhile listening to -and his thinly veiled shots at * (and Linda Tripp five years ago) were much valued and appreciated on my part

Billy does OK, just OK, when doing the introductions and stuff; last night's opening number was excruciating.

23. I don't think Bruce Vilanch was doing the writing this year.
Bruce Vilanch is the head writer of the Oscar telecast. I don't think he had anything to do with this year's show...he's touring with "Hairspray"...he plays Edna Turnblad in the touring production.

I keenly felt the absence of Bruce this year, because last night's show was desperately unfunny. One of the most mediocre Oscar shows in a long time, IMO.

25. Not only do I not like him on the Oscars, I dislike him everywhere.
With the exception of Monsters Inc. and that's because I didn't have to see him. He's not funny and not fun.
