Florida Congresswoman Hangs Up On Obama Twice

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) hung up on President-elect Barack Obama twice on Wednesday thinking he was a prank caller from a Florida radio station.

Ros-Lehtinen was working in her South Florida district, which includes the Keys, when she received a call on her cell phone from a Chicago-based phone number. One of her aides said it was Obama and he wanted to speak to the congresswoman.

Obama introduced himself to Ros-Lehtinen and she cut him off saying, "I'm sorry, but I think this is a joke from one of the South Florida radio stations known for these pranks," and hung up the phone.

A short time later, Obama's chief of staff-designate Rahm Emanuel called Ros-Lehtinen and said "Ileana, I cannot believe you hung up on the president-elect." Ros-Lehtinen said she told Emmanuel she did not believe his call was legitimate either and hung up on him.

She then received another call from Obama who told her, "It is very funny that you have twice hung up on me."
