38. Okay. This was the dream. For real.

A couple was getting married in my church. Both were male. That's not weird in the least - Unitarians have been joining same sex couples for decades. What was odd was that several DU'ers were there - you and ThomCat were most visible. There was also another uninvited guest who quietly sat in the last row. Later everyone agreed he looked sort of familiar, but he never introduced himself, and no one could remember having invited him.

Not that he was any trouble. He was the perfect guest, and warmly shook the hands of the newlyweds, wishing them joy in their shared lives.

In fact, he was so quiet and unobtrusive, that no one would have remembered or remarked on his presence at all - had it not been for the really peculiar thing he did to the taller of the two drinking fountains in the foyer.

It was only after he'd left that we discovered the water had been turned into wine.

A large limousine pulled up next to me. A friend I hadn't seen since High School rolled down the window and called to me to come join them. Just then, two Secret Service men grabbed my purse and ran a metal detector over me before announcing "She's clean". I wondered "Whoa! What's going on here?" but entered the limousine. Seated in the back next to my friend was Barack Obama.

He asked for my name, and what I did for a living. Then he told me he was planning on creating a cabinet post to address the needs of women and children. Did I think that was a good idea? Would I be willing to work in such a department if he succeeded? Who did I think he should pick to head it?

At some point, we all got hungry. He asked me for recommendations on where to eat, and I recommended a local joint with Progressive management and excellent food. As we were leaving the limo, a redneck driving a pick-up with a "W" bumpersticker yelled "Just who do you think you are, n*****!"

He did a double take, and remarked "Let's see now...I'm riding in a heavily armored limousine. I've got half the Secret Service watching my butt, and ready to take a bullet. My wife is checking out the furniture in the White House. Who the hell do you think I am?"

Then he turned to me and laughed.

I replied "DU is never going to believe this!"
