Did anyone else love that performance as much as I did?

I hear Michael McKean and Annette O'Toole had a sense of humor about their nomination. Michael's take was that after years and years of acting (between the two of them) and getting nominated for a song-writing award, that it pays to quit your day job.

1. I really wanted them to win.

Even moreso after their touching performance in character.

"Like a Mighty Wind" is a wonderful film. Another Christopher Guest masterpiece.

He, like Tim Robbins, knows how to pick a great woman FWIW.

2. Michael McKean is great!

I loved the movie. Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, and Michael McKean reunited as a folk band. It doesn't get much better!

3. I didn't love it

It was one of the few the irritating things about "A Mighty Wind". I really didn't care for the whole Mitch and Mickey thing.

6. My favorite Oscar moment

It was beautifully played as a bit yet still very touching.

I love all the old "SCTV" cast but Catherine's gotta be my favorite.

7. I really enjoyed the musical numbers this year.

My co-workers have been telling me I've just got to see "A Mighty Wind" (And I love folk, so it's a crime I haven't seen it yet). Anyway, I was looking forward to the performance of "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" and was not at all disappointed!

I also thought the other musical numbers were handled very well, with solid presentation and none of the tasteless stuff that's cursed previous shows. I'm not saying the whole show was perfect (I have no use whatsoever for Jim Carrey, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson), but it came off much better than I had dared hope.

Near the nadir in Oscar history: Rob Lowe dancing with a young woman clad as Disney's Snow White. I think that was about 1989. Oh, the horror...

8. Mighty Wind

I watched it yesterday and was disappointed. Too many characters & not enough screen time per, IMO.

9. I haven't seen the movie yet but I loved the song

I thought it should have won. That or the "Belleville Rendezvous"!

10. I'm a sentimental old softy, so of course, I love "A Kiss At The End

Of The Rainbow". My wife and I both teared up during the Oscars performance, and in the movie.

It's so cool that it was co-written by Annette O'Toole. YOWZA! I've been in love with her for twenty years.
