3. W. My reasoning?
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 01:42 PM by kmla
M F. When sounded out "em" and "eff". Next two - G J "gee" and "jay".. Two letters that begin w/ vowels, followed by two with consonants.

The second set? H L - "ayche" and "ell". Two more vowels. Then J again. Of the selection set for the answer, "w" is the only one that starts with a consonant, to be paired w/ J (jay).

That's my answer, anyway.

And, yes, Robb is a dingbat. But I was only allowed one vote...

4. That's some impressive reasoning.
And it doesn't matter what the "right" answer is, because this one is perfectly valid. Very cool.

I am stumped.

16. I have a few theories with different results but given the limited info
I will go with S. The answer is the series with which you type the characters on a keyboard. MFGJ are all pointer fingers(Rt hand/Left/Left/Rt), the next four HLJS are Pointer finger (H), Ring finger (L), Pointer finger (J) and from the choices only (S) ring finger completes the series. My only reticence is that while (S) is the ring finger, the "handing" pattern is odd, (R/R/R/L) so I feel this is probably NOT the answer. I haven't voted for my FINAL answer yet.

23. THE SPOILER ANSWER HERE!
The correct answer is "W".

Why, you ask?

Here's a hint... the "G" in the sequence represents the name "Grant"....

Get it?

It's the surnames of folks pictured on U.S. currency, starting with William McKinley on the $500 bill, down through Jefferson on the $2 bill (that tricky second "J"). And on the $1 bill, Washington! :D
